Can HIV Or STD Be Contracted Through Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Dec 2015
Question: Since yesterday, I am feeling a serious panic attack. I am freaking out, cant sleep and feeling panic for HIV / Other STD infection.

While searching the threads for information regarding sexual transmission, even after all reassurance regarding no possibility of HIV infection, I went through a thread on STD ( Apart from HIV) transmission.

During my pre-marital phase, once at about six years back, I received a oral sex from a man( unknown), though no infections felt by me on date, neither by my wife, since last 5 yrs. Both tested negative for HIV few months back. Still, with the possibility of STD, I am highly tensed. As if I am going to die.

Only 3yrs back I got a fungal infection in my penis and consulted a good doctor. He just prescribed 3 anti-fungal medicine and advised nothing to worry.

What Should I do? Is there any chance of symptoms after such a long time? My wife also doing sex with me for last 3 yrs( Approx), she also did not notice anything.
How do I get rid of panic attack? Should I get tested?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Thanks very much for your question. I have reviewed all of your previous answers as well as the information above and I have a good grasp on your situation.

First, there is absolutely no evidence you have an STD. A negative test is highly accurate. Oral sex and handjobs do not confer HIV. Your concerns are related to anxiety and hypochondriasis. Fortunately, this can be treated.

Standard treatment for anxiety is an SSRI such as Tab. PROZAC 10mg Once daily/ZOLOFT 12.5mg Once daily (since this are prescription based medicines I'd advice you to check into your local physician before considering them). As this can take between 4-8 weeks to take full effect, anxiety is treated in the short term by benzodiazepines such as Tab. ATIVAN 0.5mg at bedtime. This would be complemented by psychotherapy with a psychiatrist. I would be happy to provide psychotherapy for you on this website via my direct link which I post at the bottom of this thread.
