Can HIV Be Contracted Through Unprotected Oral Sex?

Question: Hello Doctor,

My question is, I received a oral sex from a massage woman without condom. Im worried will hiv spread to me? I don't know her status. Pls help.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. For transmission of HIV you need transfer of bodily fluids to occur. An oral sex does not involves a very low risk of HIV transmission, but the virus can very rarely be passed on this way. Although not likely, if you need confirmation that you have not been infected you would need to get tested. If the test gives negative results 120 days or more after the exposure you can rest assured that you are negative for HIV.

Thanks for your reply doctor, I'm relaxed. But I never had any intercourse with her also I heard receiving oral is considered as very low to zero risk (studied in Internet). As hiv virus only spread through fluid I side the body (as you correctly mentioned) but oral is outside the body. Outside the body hiv will not withstand (these are I studied in various topics in Internet), sorry if in speaking or asking too much. I'm in mind pressure, pls help.
