Can HIV Be Contracted Through Unprotected Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Oct 2016
Question: I have an opportunity to have sex with a new partner.

She says she has been tested and is clean and I am being paranoid.

That being said, she is into unprotected oral sex.

I would like a sense of how risky unprotected oral sex is with a partner with no visible sores, etc.

Brief Answer:
low risk

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

the risk for contracting sexually transmitted diseases from a partner without any history of such diseases or any visible lesions is minimal. Even if she were HIV positive (the most dreaded scenario) contracting HIV from oral sex is rare and usually requires some kind of injury. Be warned though that any kind of STD can be transmitted even without any visible clue to its presence including HIV, herpes, syphilis, etc.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
