Question: I have been having issues since March of 2013 when I poked myself with a tagging gun at working. an Hiv + person poked himself days earlier with same gun. I have tested negative many times since then. they also tested me for an array of diseases tha
t could pose any risk. well about month after I began having headaches, fatigue, sore throat, brain fog.....saw many doctors from infectious disease, neurologist, ent, cardiologist, etc...They haven't found anything. They say it's anxiety related since then but I dont. for one if that were case why would symptoms show up one month after and not right after. plus two I've long ago forgotten about this and let this go. but now my headache are worst, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, and chest tightness are problematic. I feel as if people think I'm crazy but symptoms are real doc. I'm at loss my PCP doesn't think anything major. I am borderline diabetic, have high blood pressure, and suffer from acid reflux. but my last lab results came out weird.

Brief Answer:
There is no chance of HIV

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

you have to relax about this. HIV dies very soon after getting out of the human body. This means that any 'infected' object can't transmit HIV even minutes after being contaminated with it. The only thing that may require investigation is your eosinophil count which is moderately high. Such elevations may occur in allergies, parasitic infections and some autoimmune conditions. Other conditions like hematologic diseases can't be excluded either.

Brief Answer:
your symptoms are not specific

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

your symptoms are not specific, which means that you can't diagnose anything based on them only. Your joint symptoms could be related to autoimmune conditions but it's very unlikely that your doctors could have missed it. Most of these conditions are diagnosed by their clinical presentation mostly, so there should have been signs like joint inflammation, morning stiffness etc

Eosinophil elevation may occur in some autoimmune conditions like the Churg-Strauss syndrome (eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangitis) and hematologic malignancies (like some types of leukemia) but the rest of your clinical details do not fit. Churg-Strauss for example may present with recurrent symptoms of respiratory tract infection and asthma attacks among other symptoms (like damage to the nerves etc).

So in conclusion, I believe that your doctors should have detected signs of a serious condition, if there was any. If the symptoms persist, I would suggest you to do the following:
- check your temperature twice daily (morning and night before bed)
- repeat some basic tests like complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, c-reactive protein, urea, creatinine, sgot, sgpt, alp, sodium, potassium, urinalysis, antinuclear antibodies.
- targeted investigation depending on symptoms, for example if your doctor finds an inflammed joint then appropriate testing is required which may include blood tests, synovial fluid tests, radiological tests etc

Besides your symptoms, I've noticed that you've got high triglyceride levels and a slightly elevated sgpt (compared to sgot). These findings may suggest that you're overweight but I can't be sure about that. If you are, then loosing some weight would help a lot with the triglycerides and with your blood sugar, not to mention the fatty liver (which may be the cause of the sgpt sligth elevation).

I hope I've helped!
Kind Regards!
