Can Clindamycin Be Taken For UTI And Vaginal Infection?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Nov 2015
Question: Hi, I have tested positive to home tests for UTI and vaginal infection. I planned to see the doctor today but unfortunately I live in an apt. house and the elevator is out of service. I cannot do stairs. I have a filled prescription for Clindamycin and wonder if it would help or can it wait until I can get out? I don't know when the elevator service will be back in operation. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Clindamycin wont help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The most common reason of UTI is infection caused by E.Coli. Unfortunately Clindamycin does not cover this bacteria. So it wont be helpful.
The best you can do at home is to drink plenty of mineral water and start cranberries supplementation.
Sometimes such treatment is enough so there is no reason to rush to the doctor. If back pain will appear, kidney are infected and thats the point you can not wait.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
