Can Ciprofloxacin Cause Muscle Pain?

default
Posted on Thu, 5 Nov 2015
Question: During a course of ciprofloxacin (about a week into the total of ten days), I started feeling pain, mostly in my left shoulder. The pain seemed to increase the last couple of days I took the medicine and then lessened a little afterwards. Ten days after the course, the pain remains. I've never had any persistent muscle pains or injuries. Nothing in my environment has changed and I'm used to soreness going away after a few days.

Can ciprofloxacin cause muscle pain?

When will it go away?

Hi there,
Thanks for posting in HCM.

Yes, muscle pain and joint pain are known side effects of ciprofloxacin. They are quite common. They may persist for a few days to few weeks even after stopping ciprofloxacin.

You can take tylenol for relief.
