Can Cerelac Be Given Every 4 Hours To 7 Month Old Infant?
Question: Hi, my baby is 7 months old. Right now along with BM I am giving him cerelac thrice morning 9 am afternoon 1 pm and evening 5 pm like with 4 hours interval. Is it okay.? And can I give t with milk. My in-laws advising me to give cerelac with milk but I am worried since it already contains milk solids..

Thank you for your reply doctor. I am giving just one scoop of cerelac each time and even he eats it with out refusing. Should I have to reduce it doctor? Kindly suggest me some other foods which I can start with. When can I try other flavours of stage 1 cerelac, he has completed 7 months now.

You can feed him less quantities initially and then gradually increase the solid feeds.
At this age you can start giving Cerelac stage one rice etc. All are same in calories and energy. Only thing is palatability which is subjective for each kid.
Other home-made food options will be -
1. Daal and rice well cooked and made into a porridge along with ghee
2. Boiled apple or banana and mashed into a paste.
3. Any made cereal porridge preparation with additional ghee added.
Remember certain principles like -
1. Add one food material / cereal or fruit per week. This will be useful because if he develops vomiting or diarrhoea, we will know what to avoid.
2. Add vegetables and fruits made into a paste surely to avoid constipation.
3. Do not add too much sugar as it may cause diarrhoea.
