Can Cabergoline And Ovanac Be Taken Together?

Question: Hi,
I am 40years old female.trying to concieve for my second child.my 1st child is 15yrs and she was an Caesarian.i have only one tube opened.i had a miscarriage in April15.now again I m trying to concieve.my LMP was 20th December15.i took contraceptives in current cycle to regulate my cycle hence now on 16th I started my periods.
I m thyroid patient too and taking 50mg eltroxin everyday. The TSH current level is 2.2ml.
I had gone for TSH,E2 and prolactin levels checked on day 2 and levels are E2 32,TSH-2.3,prolactin-87.....
I have slight heaviness in my breasts in this cycle.
Kindly advice....I m planning this cycle to concieve and already started ovanac cc 50mg.

Can I take cabergolin along with it ???? Should I expect the prolactin level be normal and I may concieve in this cycle if the ovulation is on opened tube side????

Pls advice the treatment.....

You have a high prolactin levels. It can cause difficulty in ovulation. You can take cabergoline with Ovanac but prolactin levels do take 3-4 weeks to come to normal levels. The dosage needs to be adjusted according to clinical response.
The chances of conception in next 2-3 cycles are there. It is best to have regular intercourse during your fertile period. You can take the help of ovulation prediction kit also.

Hi Doc,

Thanks for answering me. Pls let me know if I did a mistake to take contraceptive to regulate my cycle??? Bcz I don't ever take any kind of contraceptive.is the contraceptive caused to high prolactin levels ?????

Can I take 2 tabs of cabergolin.5mg together to down the levels of prolactin ???? Pls advice

Birth control does not affect prolactin.

Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Birth control pills do not affect the prolactin levels in the body. To regulate the cycles birth control pill is the safest way but after stopping the pill it can cause anovulation for one or two cycles.
Do not increase the dose of cabergolin. Sudden decrease in prolactin will not cause an immediate ovulation. It is a slow process. Do take the prescribed doses only.

Hi good morning doc, you mean to say even the clomid will be not be effective in high prolactin case????

Do I need to drop the cycle ?? I m on ovanac cc already and been taken cabergolin.5mg.

Chances of ovulation are less - Not nil.

The chances of having a normal ovulation with siphene are less if the prolactin is raised. Since you have already started with the medicine you can go for ovulation kit test to detect if ovulation takes place in this cycle or not.
