Thanks for posting your query.

ED or erectile dysfunction is a common problem in men especially diabetics. There are various treatment options and terming the best would vary from patient to patient.

It's not very clear from your query whether you are a diabetic controlled on medications and the time period since you have ED.

However the following are the treatment options which are all effective and you need to consult your physician before starting any of them.

1. The commonest treatment is oral medicines containing sildenafil citrate like Viagra, Cialis etc which are taken half an hour before sex and they increase blood supply to penis causing erection that may last for four to five hours (variable)

2. Newer modalities like intracavernous pharmacotherapy or ICP which includes injecting medicine right in the blood vessels of penis for stronger and faster effect.

3. Vacuum devices for redirecting blood flow to penis.

4. There are many alternative natural therapies provided by ayurveda which may or may not have effect in an individual.

5. Lastly in resistant cases surgical methods are also available.

For early and mild cases just healthy lifestyle modifications and sex therapy by a good sexologist might be sufficient.

All these therapies have to be approved by your treating doctor to prevent any drug interactions and complications.

So please consult your physician and have a XXXXXXX discussion with him. He may also prescribe you a treatment himself or guide/refer you to a sexologist (specialist).

Hope I have answered your query. Please press the accept button if you have no further queries.

What is CIALIS ? Where it is available? What is approximate cost and potency? Thanks.
Answered by Dr. Hema Yadav 2 hours later

Thanks for the follow up query.

Cialis is tadalafil which like sildenafil is used for erectile dysfunction and has the similar potency and side effects; but the active metabolite remains in the body for about 36-48 hrs so prescribed as only once daily dosage.

It is a prescription only medicine and available in US, Canada at around 1to5 $ per pill (not freely available in Indian pharmacies). Cialis like viagra is not a cure for erectile dysfunction.

I would advise you consult your doctor and do not self medicate under any circumstances.

Wish you good health.
