Question: baby swallow 50 mg trazodone (2.5 years old, 35 pounds) I am not certain if this is the pill and after 20 minutes he is still wake - may have been something else, but do not know what it is

Thanks for posting your query. I suggest you to immediately get your child evaluated from the ER as it is still not clear whether he has taken Trazodone or not.

Safety and effectiveness in the pediatric population for this drug have not been established.

Children who have accidentally ingested this drug may show anxiety, agitation, insomnia, irritability, hostility, aggressiveness and decreased blood pressure.

The reactions reported most frequently have been drowsiness and vomiting. Moreover there is no antidote for this drug and treatment is basically supportive and symptomatic especially in the case of hypotension or excessive sedation. In such a case, forced diuresis may be useful in facilitating elimination of the drug.

Hence I sincerely advise you to consult ER immediately if you notice any of these symptoms.
