Asthmatic Child Diagnosed With Pneumonia, On Medicines, Has Blood In Phlegm. Remedy?

Question: nine yr old went to e r diagnosed wth pneumonia.. asthma patient takes qvar an ventolin.. keeps coughing.. inhalers not workn albuterol not workn..phlem is bloody lookn also takn azythromicin an amoxicilln.. what should i do now.

Hi,welcome to HCM!

When the child is not improving on conventional treatment,you have to do the following.

1 get urgent appointment with the pediatrician as busy ER may miss somethings.
2 the child needs X-ray chest as you say the sputum is bloody - it shows the possibility of pneumonia and not simple asthma!
3 if you can not get pediatric appointment, pl go to ER again and mention bloody sputum.
