Are Tingling, Flashing In Eyes And Bells Palsy Symptoms Of Stroke?

Question: I worked very hard today it is a very physical job and I've had a rough week. This all began sunday night when I had a toothache. Monday I scheduled an appointment with a dentist because there was sensitivity to hot and cold and by the time I got to the dentist it was a constant agonizing pain that was overwhelming. She filled my tooth in hopes of it just being a cavity with a oil of clove filling and I asked for no pain medication because I didn't want to look like some sort of drug addict trying to score a drug. The drug that she offered was oxycodone-acetaminophen. I , always trying to be the hero, said no. I was a fool. I stayed up all night Tuesday into Wednesday morning with tooth agony and rushed to her office Wednesday at 730 in the morning waiting for her office to open at 8 so that I could get rid of the pain. I had to call in sick to work Wednesday morning ( work in the middle of the night and have for 20 years) The start time for my job that morning was 3:50 a.m. I'm used to it now but it's still not easy. Getting back to it: I got the pills that I mentioned sometime before 9 that morning after having stayed up all that night bouncing off the walls in pain. I took Tylenol extra strength every six hours starting at 7 or so Tuesday night and it worked for about a half hour and wore completely off after the half hour. After that I went to get a root canal Wednesday and got it and the mouth pain is gone however, the fatigue from the stress at work, and various other things that seem to have no end continued on and have, I believe culminated to this symptom. I didn't get any rest yesterday because I spent from about 10 am to 4 pm trying to figure out how to hook up a wireless internet connection and all to no avail. I went to bed out of exhaustion yesterday late afternoon before 5 and left the tv on all night . Start time at my job today was 4:10 a.m. I load trucks for UPS and it's a very exhaustive and physical job. There have been staffing problems (lack of people) for months so whosoever shows up to work that day gets extra work to do and always too much for any human to either keep up with or physically do. So between the mental stress of all of what I have said and the physical beating I took this week with an oral surgeon and a dentist on top of work and lack of sleep, here are the list of symptoms I got this morning after the shift driving to my bank to deposit a check:
I got flashy spots and white kind of lights in my eyes, tingling arms and hands just below the elbow and tingling legs and feet just below the knees. I'm hoping I didn't just have a XXXXXXX stroke this morning.

Brief Answer:
Not a stroke

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I am sorry about the bad sequence of events you went through.

Reading those symptoms I can assure you though that nothing in those symptoms suggests a stroke. Stroke affects most of the times the limbs on one side of the body. Also it usually affects the whole limb not only from the elbow or knee down. So that history is not compatible with stroke.

Distal numbness/tingling might make one think of peripheral nerve involvement but then that is excluded by the visual signs.

So those symptoms were most probably related to the accumulated stress and tiredness.

I remain at your disposal for further question.

The accumulated stress has been an ongoing problem for all too long. Years, and without an end in sight which adds to and intensifies it to a seemingly perpetual state that will not waiver even whilst trying to get what few hours of sleep I try to cling to. I wouldn't call it a form of hysteria but there are "elements" of my existence that I will probably insist on believing that will not change in my life that have been going on that are ultimately the core underlying cause of this stress. I'm not on medications for anxiety or depression but used to be, and after 16 years realized in my case it was a waste of time. I simply have emotions and moods. Over-diagnosis was what it was about my mental/emotional state. I'm not suffering from either Major Depression, or Bipolar type 2. I have rare moments of anxiety tingling however, this was from a solid week of horrors that had not abated until I got home this very morning. The horror has merely ended because the dental work that needed to be done got done and the job I have to go to I don't have to do till Monday. These tethers are now off. Having not much else to do but enjoy the weekend is the only thing ahead of me. This "spell" lasted less than a minute and again was brought on I can only think by working in the heat, poor sleep and exorbitant worries about my inexorable future. I'm glad to hear it wasn't a form of stroke. I try not to live in helpless dread of maladies but the pessimism is always something to combat whenever a week comes to a crest such as it did this morning. I feel fine now hours later. Hydrated, healthy food, and healthy amounts of both. I don't do drugs, I don't drink and I don't smoke. I thank you for your expertise and gift of acumen sir. I am now very much elated and above all else grateful for your time.

Brief Answer:
Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
On the one hand I am sorry about these issues you are experiencing, but on the other hand I congratulate you on your attitude. Since you want to stay away from medication I won't recommend any, just keep on eating healthy and staying hydrated. Try to relax and perhaps consider activities like yoga which might help with you anxiety.

Thank you for your kind words, wishing you all the best.
