Are Swollen Tonsils Symptoms Of HIV?
Question: Hello Doctor - I had sex many times..but every time i ensure it is safe..by using protection...however one time i had a incident where the condom broke and i had sex for 10 sec...in 2 days i had some flew like sysptoms..after 4-5 months i started having Dry cough...then sore trought...after 6 months ....I had expanded tonsils and sinisitues...i went to an ENT and the sinus is settled ....the ENT told me i have big tonsisl and i need to have it removed...after some medication the sinus is gone....before 2 days....I again started to have tonsils....the tonisls are very big....and there is a white spot on one of the tonsil....I am scared to death ...are any of these HIV symptoms..Pls help

I'm sorry to hear all that you have had to go through the last months.
HIV is a virus that lowers the immunity of the person who has it, and the person may get all kinds of infections and have all kinds of symptoms. so we can't tell only from the symptoms if you have HIV, not in this stage at least.
On the other side, HIV is a difficult virus to pass on. It mostly will pass through blood, because it can't resist in the free environment as it gets destroyed there. Unprotected sex has a very low ratio of transmitting the virus, and the anal sex more, because the trauma can be higher there and the direct blood contact can be higher as a result.
So, the possibility to having been infected by hiv with just one sexual contact, its very, very low.
I would not worry much about it if that is the only contact you had.
But, doing the HIV test its easy nowdays, so to confirm it 100% and have a piece of mind, I would recommend to consider it.

--The fact that you have had so many repetitive infections might be because of antibiotic resistance. I'm not sure also, if the white spot is a tonsilar stone, or actual pus..your doctor might be able to tell what it is by looking at it. My guesses are that it is a tonsilar stone, that get formed from the food remaining in between the folds of the tonsils for long time, so its not an infection.
