Posted on Fri, 4 Sep 2015
Question: I was bitten/stung by a large mosquito in turkey in 2009, since then I have been feeling very under the weather, it started within 2 days of being bitten by it. I am 70 yrs old, am not on any medication at this point, please can you tell me if it is the west nile virus my daughter in law (who comes from XXXXXXX and remembers the same virus happening there about 2 yrs ago she is also a qualified doctor in her own right) I have had serious implications since startingwith the symptoms, which were and still are----muscle aches, lymph nodes swollen, inflamed mostly on one eye my right, occasional diarhea
and off my food quite a lot too.
nauseand vomiting started with but then just nausea occasionally, at least once a week.
I HAVE HAD GIARDIA IN THE PAST AND IN 1988 I ALSO SUFFERED FROM VIRAL MENINGITUS, BOTH WERE AWFUL TO HAVE, BUT BOTH WERE DIAGNOSED BY MY THEN DR. I HAVEN'T HAD PARTICULARLY GREAT HEALTH FOR MOST OF MY LIFE WITH HAVING CFS/ME FOR MOST OF MY ADULT LIFE TOO. LOTS OF PROBLEMS ALTHO I DID DO MUCH EXCERCISE IN THE LATE 80/'S TO MID 90'S WHICH THEN CAUSED MY KNEES TO BOTH HAVE MAJOR SURGERY ON THEM BY 2004 WITH RELACEMENT INNER KNEE JOINTS.
THAT IS JUST A BRIEF RESUME OF MY HEALTH PROBLEMS , UP TO DATE. I APOLOGI\ZE FOR TAKING UP SO MUCH OF YOUR TIME READING MY EPIPHANY, BUT HOPE YOU CAN SEND ME BY7
EMAIL ANY ANSWERS AT ALL. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE

Brief Answer:
Its not West Nile Virus that you are suffering from. Dont worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,
Why do you worry so much? You are in great shape for your age and for the procedures you have undergone. Do not worry. You do not have West Nile Virus at all. this virus does not cause any problems in most cases. In 1 out of 100 people it can lead to some problems but not so late after the exposure. So get it out of your mind. West Nile is definitely not your concern. What problems do you feel in daily life that I can try to help with but its not West Nile fever. You will have to help me to assist you in your health betterment. I would need to know your eating schedule and habits to know and advice why you should experience any problems with your digestion. I will aim to completely relieve you of all your problems provided you help me and tell me what exactly are you experiencing.
Take care,
Dr Rishi, New XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

MANY THANKS FOR REPLYING , I apologize for the delay in replying, our grand daughter and great grandson came to visit so it was busy here.
my eating schedule are very good, as are my habits, i eat a medium small bowl of XXXXXXX flakes with a handful of sultanas with goats milk on it , semi skimmed. ad 1 cup of tea, i follow it with a large handful of red and green grapes.
I may have 1 cup of coffee between then and lunchtime, but also drink lots of water .
at about 1.30pm, for lunch i usually have a small salad with goats cheese sandwiches 1 round of XXXXXXX bread , the salad comprises of lettuce, not a huge amount and usually an iceberg, with about 6 small tomatoes and beetroot, after which i have a cup of tea. then for the afternoon i have water and another cup of tea about 4.30pm. for main dinners we usually have fresh veg, broccoli, carrots and cooked chicken, with mash potatoes.
i donot have much after this as it is quite a large dinner, (my husband cooks every day) we eat a few bananas during a week, but not much else, we donot buy biscuits as i donot have a sweet tooth and my husband does (he would eat them all)
i donot and never have suffered from indigestion or anything else nasty like this.
my major problems seem to be i get upset a lot and cry for no apparent reason, which irritates my hubby, he shouts at me, quite frequently anyway, not so much since he did it in front of my daughter-in-law, who told him of, he just laughed at it. Even tho' his memory isnt what it was he is great at remembering stupid things and as he was always playing cricket all summer until only 12 yrs ago, his attitude towards me is sometimes good but the he changes and its not so good.
i have fallen but only ever indoors,at least twice a year as from 2009. when he really upset me, i have difficulties walking properly and talking too, he is happy for me to sit in my room upstairs or downstairs in my craft room, for hours on end without bothering with me,I have a feeling my problems are consistently based on my relationship with my husband, mainly as i have always been very independent i had to be really, we have never got along very well, even at the beginning , 41 yrs ago, he is 77 tomorrow 12th august, but he apportions blame onto my shoulders for anything that may or has gone wrong, even if it has nothing to do with me, and publicly too. I have hated living in this house since we moved in 40 yrs ago, its on a busy road , traffic is dreadful with crashes on our corner at leas 6 times a year, council has done little to help ,i grew up in the countryside even tho' i moved 23 times it was always country, i hate the people around here except for a few who originated up north or elsewhere, they are not forthcoming when you show friendship at all, i cant explain, properly about them just that its very difficult, my husband has his ''gang'' around him from being young, and he never tells them much about me even when they do ask, and what i find is awful they treat me really nicely when my hubbys around but when hes not i find them quite hurtful. I have always been a very outgoing person, but have become quite a hermit since he retired 4 years ago. MY WONDERFUL SON AND HIS LOVELY WIFE have said they often think of me moving up to Edinburgh to be near them, I wish i could but i cant see my way --yet..

again thnx for replying and for putting my mind at rest about the virus, i did think it might be a shot in the dark!!

what i have said here is just a fraction of what has gone wrong for me here and also for my son too. which is why i would love to go and live near them in scotland, i am sorry if i come across as very stupid female and self centered but i have never had the chance to tell anyone else about my problems since moving here in 1974, i was always listening to others problems instead and if i started saying about mine it would be dismissed immediately so i think it may be what you said in your 1st reply , just something small but very easy to go ahead with talking about my troubles. ALTHO' it doesnt answer my worries its very nice to have someone who can read about them o for that i thank you very much indeed, and hope it doesnt bore you!

AGAIN MANY THANKS FOR ''LISTENING'' (READING)

Brief Answer:
Thanks for your reply.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,
Thanks for your reply and apologies for the delay from my end.
Your meal habits are near perfect and you need not change anything in them. What you need to do is worry less as you are in a great physical shape. However, emotionally you are not in a very good place.
I hope you can help yourself out of that. After all, our happiness is within ourselves and as long as we try to find it in others we would not get it.
What I can suggest is since you and your husband have struck kind of a balance you should maintain a similar lifestyle with a lot of small small changes.
You could spend time with your children by staying in Scotland with them for a few months and then coming back to stay with your husband cyclically. This will give your relationship freshness and also the change and outgoing opportunity that you need. At this age it would be unreal to expect your husband to change.
If you could sit down and talk to him about your concerns he might be more receptive and accepting than you feel he is.
Try these methods you might have a better outcome.
I hope for your emotional improvement and happiness and contentment in your life.
Take care,
Dr Rishi, New XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
