Are Irregular Spotting And Stomach Cramps Symptoms Of Menopause?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jun 2016
Question: Hi I had unprotected sex on 26th XXXXXXX and took an emergency contraceptive pill right after my period was over. In April, I had a bit of spotting after 12 days of consuming contraceptive pill. I again had full period on 23rd April, I went for Pap Smear on 7th May and I had spotting immediately. Again I was spotting on 11th May (yesterday). Today I am having stomach cramps like my period is going to start. I am not sure what this is. I am 40 years old and I had my first period when I was ten. Is this a menopausal syndrome? Or is it bigger than that like a cervical cancer or something else. I am worried. Please advise. My Pap smear results is yet to come.

Brief Answer:
Pap smear report

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Irregular spotting or bleeding can be due to pregnancy, cervical erosion, cervical premalignant lesions, or cervical cancer.
I suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test done.
If it is negative, then you should wait for the pap smear report and further management should be done accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
