Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that it is true that earlobe crease correlates with a higher probability of more early coronary artery disease.

But, this is true, because earlobe crease is highly associated with important coronary risk factors like diabetes, hypertension, overweight and obesity, dyslipidemia, etc.

In fact you don´t seem to have such a prominent earlobe crease.

So, in your case the most important and challenging issue is to properly control the already known coronary risk factors like diabetes which may seriously harm your heart), and potential others like dyslipidemia, hypertension, overweight, close smoking contacts, etc.

Following a healthy life style and diet is the most important clue in this regard.

So, nothing to worry too much about earlobe crease, but the real coronary risk factors that are around.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

Thank you, that's very reassuring, I've been really disturbed about it since I noticed it and did my own research, I'm hoping that my high fitness levels and regular exercise are helping, my diet and blood sugar control are very good, I probably eat a bit more fat than I should but my cholesterol levels are good as well, seeing as no doctor I've spoken to about it has acknowledged the association and completely dismissed it, I'm very happy to speak to a cardiologist who actually knows about the association, I mean if I had chest pain or something like angina or pain that occurred during exercise I guess that would be a much greater concern wouldn't it? I mean because I don't have that does mean that I might be OK?

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

I would like to encourage you to continue your healthy lifestyle. It is very important to eat a balanced diet and perform a lot of physical activity.

A periodical check up of your blood lipid profile and fasting glucose is necessary to exclude other coronary risk factors like dyslipidemia or diabetes.

As long as you don't have chest pain or shortness of breath during physical exertion, there is nothing to worry about!

A healthy lifestyle is the main important clue to a healthy heart and mind.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing good health,

Dr. Iliri
