Posted on Wed, 13 Apr 2016
Question: I have symptoms of peripheral neuropathy such as tingling in one foot, feeling like the skin is being torn off my feet, weakness in my hands, dizziness, head pains, muscle spasms, but also back (middle and upper) pain, pain elsewhere such as backs of arms, groin, chest. Also have hearing loss in one ear, eye pain, memory problems. Some of those symptoms sound like ms. How can I tell the difference?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

These symptoms appear to be diffuse and non-localizing,not like MS.Even as you mentioned, anxiety can and infact here, appears to be causing these symptoms.

MS is usually a relapsing and remitting illness.Symptoms are usually acute in onset and which improves over time and then again they may occur at any time in future(symptoms in different events may be different). This is not the likely case in your scenario.

I would like to know that-
1)Since when are you having these symptoms?
2)What is their course-static,progressive or improving?

Answers to these questions will itself give answer to you, based on the above discussion.

Hope it helps. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
