Are Dizziness, Dry Mouth And Tiredness Side Effects Of Metoprolol?
Question: I take Metoprolol ER Succinate 100mg tab twice a day for essential tremors and have for several years now. I am looking at finding an alternative substitute since I am having several side effects from it such as Dizziness, Tiredness, Dry mouth, gas, heartburn, and cold hands & feet.
I have a history of bi-polar depression, acid reflux, high cholesterol, tremors, sleep apnea and IBS. I take several medications for all of them. Lately I have experienced severe fatigue and high blood pressure (160/100 and tonight 145/96).
Any alternative substitute for the Motoprolol is appreciated. Thanks. XXXXXXX
I am scanning my most recent lab results from 3 weeks ago to upload. The lipid panel was not in the recent results but is still noted on the report from back in December 2014. I had been off my cholesterol medication (didn't realize it) for over 3 months.

Please note that the side effects or all the symptoms you are noticing are not just because Metaprolol. Since you are on multiple prescription it would be very difficult to spot the exact side effect to the exact medicine. Like dizziness and dry mouth are also side effects of few other drugs you are taking.
Metaprolol belongs to beta blockers group of drug. This group of drugs have pleotropic effects on body that means they are beneficial in multiple ways for the body including beneficial effects on cardiovascular system. Also they regulate blood pressure. Apart from that beta blockers should never be stopped ya replaced immediately. They have to be weaned slowly under observation. I would advise you to visit your treating Physician for the same.
Moving to your blood report, lipid levels are highly altered and would require lipid lowering drugs. Sugar levels too is altered which needs follow up and medications if necessary. Mild elevated liver enzymes should needs to be followed too, probably no intervention would be required for the same.
