1.Since when are you experiencing the ammonia smell?
2.Was there any symptoms of cold , cough, fever earlier to this symptom?
3.Do you have history of high blood sugar?
4.Have you experienced any involuntary bodily movements with loss
of consciousness?
5. How frequent is this symptom?
6.Is there any difficulties in tasting food?

Thanks for following up.

If you are getting an ammonia smell every time you clear your throat, the most likely cause is GERD (Gasto Esophageal Reflux Disease) or LPR (Laryngo Pharyngeal Reflux) often coupled with a fungal sinus infections, high protein diets and renal problems leading to increased urea levels.

You need not investigate aggressively if you have had symptoms only for 24 hours.
