Gestational Diabetes
High blood sugar can cause problems for you and your baby. Your baby may grow too large, which can cause problems during delivery. Your baby may also be born with low blood sugar. But with treatment, most women with gestational diabetes are able to control their blood sugar and give birth to healthy babies.
Type 1 diabetes in children
Type 1 diabetes, once known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin, a hormone needed to convert sugar (glucose) into energy. Although type 1 diabetes can develop at any age, it typically appears during childhood or adolescence.
Treatment of diabetes
The triad in the treatment of diabetes mellitus is dietary life style, exercise and antidiabetic medications. Exercise and diet modifications have a major role in control of blood sugar levels. Initially managed by increasing exercise and dietary life style modification, medications are typically needed as the disease progresses.
Hypoglycemia and diabetes mellitus
Diabetes mellitus is the most common cause of hypoglycemia. It can due to more insulin or low glucose in the blood. Regular self monitoring of glucose will overcome hypoglycemic episodes.
Type II diabetes mellitus
Diabetes mellitus type 2 is a disorder that is characterized by high blood glucose (sugar) in the context of insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency. Initially managed by increasing exercise and dietary life style modification, medications are typically needed as the disease progresses.
