Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
Hi I am a 20 year old, Asian male that has brown skin. I have been suffering from Acne for the past couple of years; it peaked around the ages of 17 to 19. Recently I have been treating the skin disorder using the following;

?Clean-Ac Dermo- Cleanser (mild cleanser)
?Clean-Ac Hydrating, Soothing (water based moisturiser)

I have also been applying and taking the following prescribed local and systematic treatments;

?Panoxyl 2.5%
?Tetracyline

The treatments have worked quite well however, the inflammation has left dark patches form where the pimples used to be, which was on my face, back and my shoulders. From the limited knowledge that I have, I have come to understand that this is referred to as ?Post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation (PIH)? my question is, how can this be treated?

Many people have suggested that I use;

?Hydroquinone
?Retinoids
?Azelaic acid
?Glycolic acid
?Chemical Peels
?Microdermabrasion

I have also come to learn that Cocoa butter and Aloe vera are also good treatments, and these are treatments that I would prefer to use in conjunction with the treatments for Acne. If someone could please clarify as to which treatment would be the most beneficial I will be grateful. Thank you.
Trauma related Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Hi

I wondered whether anyone knows whether PID can be caused by physical (not sexual) trauma such as being in a car accident. My friend was in a very bad car accident and sustained a lot of injuries to her pelvis and thighs and chest. A few days after she was taken to hospital, and whilst still being treated for the extensive injuries, she started having very bad pains in her pelvis and a fever. She was examined by a gyneocologist and was diagnosed with PID and put onto antibiotics. She had no symptoms before the accident and hadn't been in a sexual relationship for a long while before either. I was just searching the internet for something else and came across a blog by someone who stated that they had stress-related PID so wondered whether this could have been the possible cause. The articles I have searched since state that it is normally caused by an STD but imply that it could be caused by other things. My friend was incapacitated for several weeks so had a cathetar fitted and was also wondered whether this might have caused an infection. Then she had a smear a few months ago and abnormal cells showed up to a CIN 3 level so she has just been for a cone biopsy to try to ascertain what the abnormal cells are. It just all seems like a bit of a coincidence (as well as extremely unlucky) and wondered whether the problems could all be connected. Any ideas anyone?

Look forward to receiving your thoughts on this.

Kind regards.

H
