User :   I have been having symptoms for about a year now, breathlessness, especially wen I'm layer down and walking. Pain in my chest and left shoulder, weak feeling in my legs and arms and so tired, recently dr found a murmur and sent me for a echo, which I've had today and they've said everything ok ? Can I have symptoms and nothing show up ?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am Dr. Mazumdar
Doctor :   Let me read your query for a minute
User :   Hi
User :   Ok thank you
Doctor :   It is good to know that ECHO report is shown normal
Doctor :   Now regarding the symptoms
Doctor :   I have few questions
Doctor :   Do you have shortness of breath both while lying down and walking?
User :   I have not seen the report my self the monographer just said it was ok and the murmur may be because I'm pregnant ?
Doctor :   Do you have similar symptoms while running and during your daily activities
User :   Yes I have the shortness of breath all the time and it gets worse wen I lay flat and even just walking up the stairs I have to stop, I'm only 32 so this is not normal for me.
User :   I'm really struggling to do anything at the moment I'm that breathless even having a shower make me breathless.
Doctor :   How many weeks passed since you are pregnant?
Doctor :   Do you take medicines for anything else?
User :   I'm 30 weeks pregnant, but the symptoms have been like this from the very beginning of pregnancy to this level and before I was pregnant but not quite as bad, I had hodgkins lymphoma in 2009 and had ABVD chemo from April to Oct and noticed the symptoms in Feb 2010 and it's gone on from there really. My oncologist ordered me a echo then which detected I had an extra heart valve but wasn't causing any problems.
User :   I'm taking tramadol at the moment for the pain in my chest and back, it really hurts and wakes me up in the night, I have to sleep sat up with8 pillows.
Doctor :   Ok ECHO is a very sensitive investigation to notice for any abnormal functioning valve in the heart
Doctor :   You might be more anxious during pregnancy to be extra safe about the baby that is growing the womb
Doctor :   A breathless ness on lying down has only one good reason
Doctor :   Anxiety
Doctor :   Many murmurs are presented during pregnancy while not detected during non pregnancy times
Doctor :   because pregnancy is called a high blood flow state
Doctor :   and when more gush of water flows through a narrow nozzle, it makes more sound
Doctor :   Is it not?
User :   And would that cause all the other symptoms such as pain, racing heart and weakness in my legs and arms and being so fatigued ? I'm less anxious now then wen I was being treat for cancer ? And I didn't have any of these symptoms then ? I don't feel anxious at all just unwell.
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   It explains all the other symptoms
Doctor :   Just try to relax by adopting good breathing techniques
Doctor :   You need to relax
User :   Even the pain in my back ? I've been visiting my dr for well over a yr now with and she has never mentioned anxiety, she said she was sure it was congestive heart faliure left side, caused by the chemo I had ?
Doctor :   Oh that can be because you had underwent chemo
Doctor :   Yes chemo can retain water in the lungs and cause mild CHF
Doctor :   Are you with me?
User :   So how is this detected then ? She said all my symptoms were pointing to this and said that basically she thought my heart wasn't pumping properly and not enough oxygenated blood was getting to my limbs hence why they felt heavy and weak, and that they could ive me tabs for it ? She said that the reason I felt worse wen layer down was because the blood was backing up nmy lungs because wasn't bein pumped quick enough ut you've nt said anyj g like that ?
Doctor :   Did you follow?"\
User :   Sorry I wad tping
Doctor :   Ok I got it
Doctor :   Ok, do you have swelling of legs?
Doctor :   Do you see pitting on the legs?
Doctor :   How is your appetite?
User :   Yes I do and I don 't feel hungry at the min because I have a lot of nausea and even feel full and sick wen I have a drink
Doctor :   Ok, this is a sign that can be of relevance
Doctor :   Do you take any medicines?
User :   Which the nausea or swelling only tramadol for the pain"
Doctor :   swelling and loss of appetite
Doctor :   Ok, Since the ECHO is on a safe side as told by the technician performing it, If I take his word
Doctor :   I shall go about explaining this way
User :   For anxiety or heart problems ?
User :   Ok I'm listening
Doctor :   Pregnancy is called a hyperdynamic state and there is increased blood flow and the silent heart disease can cause symptoms which persist for long time and bother the person a lot

Doctor :   This could be happening with you
Doctor :   Now if the technician is wrong and there is a compromise in the function of heart, then your cardiologist along with ObGYN should manage the symptoms without disturbing the pregnancy
Doctor :   Next thing but not least, Pregnancy can frequently increase the thoughts on the to be born baby
Doctor :   so the person can be anxious to an extent of breathless even on lying down
Doctor :   Did you follow?
Doctor :   Since you have breathless and swelling of legs, then I should first rule out Heart function
Doctor :   So you should consult your primary physician
Doctor :   and get a medicine to help from breathlessness and swelling of legs
Doctor :   I need more time to answer
