User :   Hello:
My mom is experiencing a feeling of breathlessness around her sternum area. She feels a tightening in her head, weak legs, and her blood pressure shoots up. She's worn a halter-monitor but the doctor says everything checked out. She's now starting to have episodes more frequently that last 15-20 seconds each time. Her GP thought it could be stomach problems and she's taking protonix but she says she doesn't feel any pain. She's had pvc's for years, but says this is different; it's in a different area.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
Let me read through
Doctor :
Is she having those symptoms now?
User :   Yes
Doctor :   She must be monitored for cardiac causes of the symptoms.
Doctor :   Holter monitor is a 24 hour ECG trace and will look for changes of ischemia too.
User :   She's going to have a 30-day monitor on Tuesday. What do you suggest she do in the meantime?
Doctor :
If she is symptomatic it would be better if she stays in the hospital.
Doctor :
But the doctors who are treating her now are the best to take the decision as they would know her condition better.
Doctor :
Since a physical examination is not possible.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   Says it feels like the air is knocked out of her and starts to blackout (like lights are turned off) and then turned back on again. Okay, we'll just have to monitor. She doesn't want to go the hospital because by the time she gets there her symptoms aren't there.
Doctor :
Does she have the chest tightness or the pain now?
User :   She doesn't have tightness or pain. Symptoms aren't there right now, but has been feeling weak.
Doctor :
does she have any other medical problems like diabetes or hypertension?
User :   She's got hypertension.
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :
Have you checked the BP now.
User :   She's checking.
Doctor :
If the BP is normal and if she does not want go to the hospital.
Doctor :
A reassurance is very essential in making her feel better.
Doctor :
You may have to reassure her.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   She's checking it right now, she got interrupted
User :   BP is 108/50
Doctor :
SInce she is hypotensive, you may have to take her to the ER.
Doctor :   Her BP has to be corrected and monitored.
User :   Okay, thanks doc.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
