User :   I have an open wound on my left foot the size of a nickel. I was wondering whether I can start using a spray antibiotic on it.
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :
User :   Hello Doc
Doctor :   Which antibiotic spray you want to try on?
User :   Here's what happened. I have alittle bit to type. Please give me a minute.
Doctor :   Yes, Please take time
User :   On either June 23rd or 24th one of the guys on my work crew sprayed my left foot with a high pressure hot water pressure washer on the job which resulted in both 1st and 2nd degree burns on and in my foot. The water went through my boot and scorched my foot. I now have a nickel sized open wound on my foot that just started healing alittle over a week ago. I've been going for the past couple weeks to Med Serv(Tupelo, Mississippi) and Advanced Wound Center(North Mississippi Medical Center).
Doctor :   Ok
User :   Both places have been treating the wound.
User :   I want to know whether I could start using a antibiotic in spray form directly on the open wound.
User :   All of this has ruined my vacation plans. I had planned to leave on my vacation July 9th
Doctor :   Does the wound discharge ? either pus or blood stained fluid?

Doctor :   Oh, do you feel difficulty in walking , is there any pain?
User :   Since it happened there has never been any pain. I've only been experiencing stinging, no pain whatsoever.
Doctor :   The stinging sensation you are experiencing is a sign of healing ,
User :   There has been some discomfort but never any pain.
User :   I was also told the same thing about the stinging by the 2 places I mentioned above
Doctor :   its an indication of growth of new skin
Doctor :   Yes, thats right

User :   There is white/light pink sking around the outter edges of the wound. I know that is knew skin forming
User :   sking=skin
User :   knew=new
Doctor :   Yes, of course it is
Doctor :   And as you feel , its good to apply topical antibiotics to prevent any secondary infections
Doctor :   which spray you planned for ?
Doctor :   Yes, XXXXXXXX
Doctor :
User :   sorry about the long pause. I had only paid for 15 minutes and had to pay for longer.
Doctor :   No problem, always here to help you

Doctor :   So tel me which spray you planned to put on?
User :   I've never used spray antibiotics. I don't know brand names.
Doctor :   Its better to apply ointment than a spray
Doctor :   i would prescribe you to go for Oint BACTROBAN twice daily
User :   the wound center that I mentioned above has been putting SilvaSorb cream on the wound when they rebandage it during each appointment.
Doctor :   i prefer BACTROBAN over Silvasorb

Doctor :   Is the wound dischargin any pus of fluid?
User :   I asked them recently if I could start putting Band Aid bandages on the wound and they said yes so I bought a box of large Band Aids and that's what I've been putting on it. The SilvaSorb cream makes the wound sting and it's very uncomfortable so I have been putting dry Band Aids on it instead.
User :   During the day it discharges alittle but not much.
Doctor :   then its better to continue the bandages better with the ointment
User :   there is dark red tissue in the wound that is healing after being burned by the hot scorching water.
Doctor :   does the tissue bleed on touch
User :   the last 2 times that I went to the wound center they removed alittle of the scab that had formed in the wound. Yesterday morning was my 3rd trip to the wound center. No. the tissue does not bleed when touched.
User :   they removed the last of that scab yesterday morning
Doctor :   Ok, then its healing well
User :   now there is only dark red tissue left in the wound
Doctor :   once when the discharge stops completely i would suggest to leave the wound open
User :   every evening I leave it uncoved until I get ready for bed and then I bandage it.
Doctor :   Thats fine
User :   I let it get some air while I'm here at home
User :   when not covered it never discharges
Doctor :   Good sign it is

User :   when there is alittle pressure like my sock and shoe it discharges but not alot.
User :   I never tie my shoe tight. I leave it somewhat lose
Doctor :   is it pus what it discharge ?

User :   it is a red puss.
Doctor :   can you describe the color of the discharge?

Doctor :   Greenish or yellowish colored discharge is a sign of infection , did you notice such ?

User :   hold on one second. I'm gonna go look at the sock I took off awhile ago
Doctor :   Yes , please
User :   it's neither greenish or yellowish. it's more brownish.
User :   like a redish brown
Doctor :   Ok, then its a blood mixed with tissue fluid and it might be from the exposed growing tissue
Doctor :   need not worry , the wound has good signs of healing
User :   thanks alot. There's also been times of itching and I've heard that is a sign of healing.
Doctor :   Yes, it is a sign of new skin formation and its good
Doctor :   once the wound gets completely dry , stop the ointment and covering with bandage and let it open
Doctor :   Is there anything i can help you with Donald?
User :   sorry sir but my phone rang and I'm talking now
Doctor :   Its ok XXXXXXXX
User :   I'm still here though
Doctor :   Yes , please proceed
User :   all of this has ruined my vacation plans
Doctor :   Don worry since its healing , you will good days ahead
User :   and it makes me sick
User :   but not literally. LOL
Doctor :   I understand
User :   is there any way to speed up the healing process or will it just have to take it's course?
Doctor :   Yes , you can speed it up

Doctor :   only by good nutrition
User :   REALLY?????????????
Doctor :   Have fruits which are eaten along with the peel
User :   like apples?
Doctor :   like apple, pear etc
User :   when I eat apples I eat the peel and all
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   its one amongst
User :   I also like bananas.
Doctor :   But not with the peel right ?

User :   I use to eat alot of fruit but I hardly eat any now. No sir. not with the peel
Doctor :   Jus kidding , you can have all the fruits eaten with peel
User :   what about fruit juice?
Doctor :   And also dry fruits like cashew , almond and apricot also helps

User :   I love cashews. they're my favorite nuts
Doctor :   No problem with fruit juice , you can have them

Doctor :   cashews ? now you have a reason to eat them lot
Doctor :   enjoy
User :   thank you sir. I want my foot to heal quicker than the 3 weeks to a month that the Med Serv center I mentioned at the start of our chat told me it will take from now until my foot is completely healed.
Doctor :   on consuming good nutrition as i mentioned, you can fasten the process

User :   I asked them if I could speed up the healing process and they said no. they said that I must let it take it's time.
Doctor :   Nothing like that ,
User :   I think I will start eatting alot of cashews and apples.
Doctor :   by improving your nutrition you will provide the required raw materials for the growth process to occur
User :   thank you sir. you have helped me alot. have a great evening. good night.
Doctor :   And by applying the oint you will prevent any secondary infetion
User :   ok. thank you
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting , bye for now
