User :   Hi, I recently noticed some dry skin at the base of my penis right above the scrotum. I put some lotion on it and it has since turned into like a red line. Is this something I should worry about? I have also noticed increased soreness after I masterbate. More than usual. Should I be concerned?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Do you have redness over the area or only a red line?
User :   only a red line
Doctor :   Is it raised above the skin surface?
User :   right where the dry skin used to be
User :   not raised, just on it
Doctor :   So now did the dry skin clear off?
Doctor :   Do you have dry skin normally entire body or similar problems any where else on the body?
User :   yes, I first noticed it yesterday and then again today. After I saw it today the dryness went away and now the red line is there
User :   no other dry spots on body
Doctor :   What is yoru age and are you sexually active?
User :   31, sexually active and have recently had unprotected sex about 3 weeks ago
Doctor :   Do you use condom during intercourse normally?
User :   with a stranger, more or less
Doctor :   Do you have itching or discharge on the penis?
User :   most times I do wear a condom
Doctor :   Do you have burning pain?
User :   no burning, no pain, no itching
User :   I only noticed the dry skin when my penis is erect
User :   When I look now, I see the red line, but my penis isn't erect
Doctor :   I think your symptoms does not sound worrisome
Doctor :   and are very non specific not relating to any illness
Doctor :   You should not be too concerned about it
Doctor :   You can keep apply mild moisturizer
User :   I also have little raised skin colored bumps on my shaft. I showed my doctor and he didn't think anything of it. I looked it up online and I think it's fordyce spots. Does that sound right?
Doctor :   Raised skin colored bumps on shaft can be fordyce spots but they are completely benign
Doctor :   You should not be worried
Doctor :   about them
User :   The only thing that worries me is that I've noticed all these "symptoms" after I had unprotected sex.
User :   What about the increased soreness after masterbation? I usually never feel sore afterwards, but I recently have i.e. since having unprotected sex
Doctor :   Is the soreness over the glans (head) or shaft
Doctor :   Do you think the skin over the glans is tight than earlier?
User :   yes, I'd say the soreness is more around the head of the penis like the bottom of the head where the ring is
User :   sometimes, I think I feel soreness at the tip too, but I don't know if it's in my head
Doctor :   If you are concerned aboout STD's, the current symptoms do not go in this favor as 3 weeks is a long time for the STD's to manifest full fledged
Doctor :   The manifestation can be from the questiosn which I asked above
Doctor :   Hence I ruled them out.
User :   Thank you doctor, this makes me feel better. Is there anything I should look out for
Doctor :   Do not have unprotected sex with unknown is the lesson I wanted you to learn in future
User :   that's a good point. I have an unrelated question. I've had a dry cough for the last few days and have taken cough syrup but it doesn't seem to be helping. Is there anything else I can take to alleviate the coughing?
Doctor :   Dry cough most likely to be viral in nature
Doctor :   It takes about a week's time
Doctor :   Till then, take ample amounts of water, choose a better cough syrup which has codeine in it, do not smoke if you do.
User :   would hot tea be any better than just water or juice?
Doctor :   Water and Green tea is good than juice
User :   and smoking will only make it worse or last longer?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   makes it worse and last longer too
User :   ok, doctor, thank you for your help. This has been a great service. I appreciate you taking the time to talk with me
Doctor :   Thank you
Doctor :   Bye
