User:A day after using a grinder to grind some metal pieces in a shop, my husbands forehead turned red as if he had a sunburn. Then it spread to the front of his neck. His forehead is swollen and it is spreading to his right eye. His right eye is swollen shut. It has been three days since the incident happened.
Doctor:let me read your query
Doctor:all right
Doctor:I have read your query
Doctor:ans seen the attached image as well
Doctor:it seems like a contact dermatitis
Doctor:he needs to ice it every few hours
Doctor:He needs anti-histamines like Tablet Zyrtec 10mg in the night for 3 to 4 days
Doctor:he can apply calamine lotion on the forehead and top of eye lids as well
Doctor:have you tried any of these measures?
User:No,we have been using aloe Vera juice from a plant. It is now starting to get crusty somewhat on his forehead and "weeps" a clear liquid
Doctor:but be careful on using the juice
Doctor:it should not cause an infection
Doctor:or rather introduce an infection in your husband
Doctor:Try the measures that I have suggested
Doctor:it would help in faster recovery
User:I'm wondering if he got some metal in his face and that might be causing infection?
Doctor:I do not see an active infection now
Doctor:there is no pus or discharge as such
User:Just a clear liquid in some spots on his forehead
Doctor:please have a close direct look at his face, if you could see anything as such
Doctor:That could be due to allergy
Doctor:it would subside with calamine lotion and tablet zyrtec
Doctor:You can have it looked by the primary care doctor, if you doubt it
Doctor:I do not see any infection in his face through the picture
User:Is Zyrtec an over the counter drug?
Doctor:it seems more of red inflammed area due to contact dermatitis or irritation with the metal
Doctor:yes, zyrtec is over the coutner
User:Ok. We will try that
Doctor:wish your husband a quick recovery
Doctor:he must be fine in 2 days time
User:Thank you for your help
Doctor:my pleasure to be of help
