User:Hello Dr
Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Correct dosage of paracetamol 250mg per 5ml for 11kg kid
Doctor:paracetamol is dosed at 15mg/kgbody weight/each dose.
Doctor:So if your child is 11kg, the child needs 165mg paracetamol each time.
User:My son got fever from last night at 1 pm
User:Gave him 5ml every 6 hourly
Doctor:If you are sure the medicine is 250mg/5ml, then about 3ml every 6-8 hours.
Doctor:5ml is a bit high for his weight.
Doctor:You may use 3ml every 6 to 8 hours.
Doctor:If fever occurs within 6 hours, you can use XXXXXXX warm sponging.
User:Any problem he may face 'coz of this
User:Wat I gave
Doctor:If you meant because of the single high dose, then I don't expect serious problems.
Doctor:However do not use any medications without proper advice from your doctors next time.
User:I gave him nearly 4 times
User:Ok thank u Dr
Doctor:May I know how often did you repeat the dosage?
Doctor:Are you there?
Doctor:Are you there?
Doctor:I have to close the chat as you are not responding.
User:Actually yesterday night I asked in this chat to confirm the dosage
User:The doctor advised 5ml
User:Then today I had doubt
Doctor:I think the doctor told not to give more than 3ml.
User:No sir he told me 5ml
Doctor:May be you didn't receive the doctor's response correctly on your side.
User:5hour a dose n I checked temperature too
Doctor:As I see in the record, the doctor suggested; not to give more than 3ml.
User:Ok Dr now what shall do
Doctor:This infact is what the doctor recommended:
For a baby of 2.11 years with weight of 11 kg, around 2. 5 ml to 3 ml of the syrup every 4 hours will suffice.
Doctor:At this point of time, you need not be worried.
Doctor:Like I said, most children are able to tolerate paracetamol syrups very well even at a slightly larger dose.
Doctor:A higher dosage can cause some gastric irritation and vomiting.
User:Ok as per now no cough or cold or loose stools
Doctor:Observe your child for these changes, the medicines gets excreted within 12-16 hours.
Doctor:Give not more than 3ml every 6-8 hours.
User:Fever hike s after 4 to 5 hours
Doctor:You can repeat paracetamol (250mg/5ml); 3ml every 6hourly.
Doctor:If fever continues to persist for more than 2 days, take him to his pediatrician for detailed examination.
Doctor:Have you followed?
User:Today evening I will take him to pedi3
Doctor:The doctor can recommend additional syrups to control fever and infection based on his clinical examination.
User:Ok thank u Dr
Doctor:Do you have any other questions?
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
