User:My father has a lump in his abdomen. He says that he has had it for a couple months. It only hurts when he touches it. there is also a red line that travels across his stomach
Doctor:Hi I am Dr. XXXXXXX here
User:hi dr
Doctor:Hello, I have read your query
Doctor:can you please tell me the exact location of this lump
Doctor:and does it move while breathing in and out?
Doctor:Hello, are you there?
User:its the left side. bit below the belly button. dont think it moves
Doctor:Does it increase in size while coughing or exerting?
User:i doubt it. He said he has had it for a couple months
Doctor:One more thing I would like to know is its' consistency? how does it feel to touch? is it hard or soft or is it like a fluid filled balloon?
User:it is hard
Doctor:Can you tell me if he can move that lump with fingers?
Doctor:in any particular direction?
User:I am not with him. so i really dont know. he has red inflamation from east to west
Doctor:It is important to know all these details to come to a conclusion as to what this might be
Doctor:having this information will tell me the nature of the lump
Doctor:because there are different types of lumps like lipomas, hernia, intestinal tumors, muscular tumors, etc
Doctor:So, I would suggest you to ask him to visit a general surgeon and get himself examined well
Doctor:and if needed an ultrasound scan will give further information as to the exact nature of the lump
Doctor:once the nature of the lump is identified, the treatment options can be discussed
Doctor:In all probability, the lump would be removed surgically, and if it is hernia, the defect can be repaired, but it is imperative to first diagnose correctly
