What does a lump in the abdomen indicate? - Online Doctor Chats
My father has a lump in his abdomen. He says that he has had it for a couple months. It only hurts when he touches it. there is also a red line that travels across his stomach
Hi I am Dr. XXXXXXX here
Hello, I have read your query
can you please tell me the exact location of this lump
and does it move while breathing in and out?
Hello, are you there?
its the left side. bit below the belly button. dont think it moves
Does it increase in size while coughing or exerting?
i doubt it. He said he has had it for a couple months
One more thing I would like to know is its' consistency? how does it feel to touch? is it hard or soft or is it like a fluid filled balloon?
it is hard
Can you tell me if he can move that lump with fingers?
in any particular direction?
I am not with him. so i really dont know. he has red inflamation from east to west
It is important to know all these details to come to a conclusion as to what this might be
having this information will tell me the nature of the lump
once the nature of the lump is identified, the treatment options can be discussed
In all probability, the lump would be removed surgically, and if it is hernia, the defect can be repaired, but it is imperative to first diagnose correctly
is there anything else I can help you with?
