What does a dark patch on skin of baby indicate? - Online Doctor Chats
my baby is 8 months and she is one month premature... she has a hole in the heart (ASD) .. since yesterday we noticed she has developed a dark patch on a skin.. the mark looks like that she has hurt herself and it looks like blackish .. what can be done
May I know how large is this mark?
Are you with me?
i am here
the mark is
i am just trying to see the report to give u the number
If the mark is not very huge, you need not be concerned.
the thing is yesterday in her foot we noticed a black mark
like when the skin becomes black when u have like hurt urself
Thanks for the update.
ASD is the common congenital defect of heart. This is in no way related to the black marks that you see.
so what could it be
These most likely represent a subcutaneous bleeding.
It perhaps was induced by unnoticed trauma.
I would be however concerned if there are plenty of other black marks appearing on the body
or if this marks spreads in size.
nope we just noticed it yesterday on her feet
Spontaneous bruising is associated with a few bleeding disorders.
hmm ok so i should just leave it and let it heal...
so what should i do?
Both these are not serious concerns requiring emergency consultation.
I would just wait and watch the progress.
If your child is active and feeding well; she seems to be alright.
ok but i should take her to her ped and also do a 2D echo .. to check it the hole has shut
When have you planned this visit?
i will take an appointment for saturday
If the size of ASD was less than 3mm, there is good chances of it getting closed spontanously within a year.
So do not be worried.
you can get this mark checked during the visit.
This mark again is most likely benign and harmless too.
no it was more
i was told its medium to large
ok thank u so much... i will message u on the 2 d echo
I would definitely like to know the results of echo.
Keep me updated on it.
yes i will thank u
Thanks for consulting me.
Bye for now.
