User:my baby is 8 months and she is one month premature... she has a hole in the heart (ASD) .. since yesterday we noticed she has developed a dark patch on a skin.. the mark looks like that she has hurt herself and it looks like blackish .. what can be done
Doctor:May I know how large is this mark?
Doctor:Are you with me?
User:yes sorry
User:i am here
User:the mark is
User:i am just trying to see the report to give u the number
Doctor:If the mark is not very huge, you need not be concerned.
User:the thing is yesterday in her foot we noticed a black mark
User:like when the skin becomes black when u have like hurt urself
Doctor:Thanks for the update.
Doctor:ASD is the common congenital defect of heart. This is in no way related to the black marks that you see.
User:so what could it be
Doctor:These most likely represent a subcutaneous bleeding.
Doctor:It perhaps was induced by unnoticed trauma.
Doctor:I would be however concerned if there are plenty of other black marks appearing on the body
Doctor:or if this marks spreads in size.
User:whats that
Doctor:Subcutaneous hematoma is layman term refers to bruising.
User:nope we just noticed it yesterday on her feet
Doctor:Spontaneous bruising is associated with a few bleeding disorders.
User:hmm ok so i should just leave it and let it heal...
Doctor:If this isn't a bruise, the next close possibility is a nevus (which is a mole)
User:so what should i do?
Doctor:Both these are not serious concerns requiring emergency consultation.
Doctor:I would just wait and watch the progress.
Doctor:If your child is active and feeding well; she seems to be alright.
User:ok but i should take her to her ped and also do a 2D echo .. to check it the hole has shut
Doctor:When have you planned this visit?
User:i will take an appointment for saturday
Doctor:If the size of ASD was less than 3mm, there is good chances of it getting closed spontanously within a year.
Doctor:So do not be worried.
Doctor:you can get this mark checked during the visit.
Doctor:This mark again is most likely benign and harmless too.
User:no it was more
User:i was told its medium to large
User:ok thank u so much... i will message u on the 2 d echo
Doctor:I would definitely like to know the results of echo.
Doctor:Keep me updated on it.
User:yes i will thank u
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
