User:Hi I get red spots on my penis every now and then. They dont pop or even have a head its just a red spot and then it goes away after a day or 2
Doctor:I am Dr. XXXXXXX here
Doctor:I have read your question
Doctor:From your description I suspect it could be lichen planus
Doctor:can you elaborate a bit more about these red spots so that I can get a better idead
User:sure they only usually come one at atime it just gets a small red area not raised or anything like that just a red spot they dont form like a zit they are just red and then they go away without incident
Doctor:do you get any itching ?
User:no iching or pain
Doctor:have you noticed any scaling/flake like appearance?
User:none of that
User:I have isited an urgent care twice and they told me it was not herpes or anything like that
Doctor:In that case I can think of two conditions
Doctor:the first one I have mentioned already
Doctor:that is lichen planus
Doctor:the other is Psoriasis
User:they did give me cream for a yeast infection because at first they were big red bumps that i dont get know but they said it may just be from me touching my penis and inspecting it a lot
Doctor:It is highly unlikely to be due to touching
User:i did have psoriasis on the side of my testicle one time with lots of itching they gave me a cream and it went away
User:if it was one of those 2 situations what can i do to remedy the problem
Doctor:In that case i suspect it is the re-occurrence of psoriasis
User:psoriasis will cause little red bump that will go away it happens about every other week or every week i get the red spot and then goes away
Doctor:Yes, psoriasis is a relapsing kind of issue
Doctor:You should consult s dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis
User:Oh ok. Perfect I thank you very much I just wanted to make sure it was not herpes even though the doc said it wasnt I still did not understand why it hasn't gone away
Doctor:Yes, psoriasis is an autoimmune condition
Doctor:so it can resurface any time
Doctor:You will benefit from steroid creams
User:Ok thank you for your time it is much appreciated
Doctor:Please do consult a dermatologist
User:i will and thank you
Doctor:and get the cream prescribed
Doctor:You are most welcome
User:Have a good day
Doctor:thank you for using the service
