What causes swollen painful foot ? - Online Doctor Chats
Yes O am a male age 23 and I have a pretty seriouse infection in my foot on the bottom. My foot is very swollen and hard to walk. I have no health care insurance and am not sure where to go?
I have stepson who is 23
he has apparently stepped on something in the water in the swamp and cut his foot
a week o rso ago
nw his foot is very swollen
h has no insurance and not sure what to do
doe not look good at all
seem lik an infection
Is he running fever?
juet pretty sore so far
had a big pocket of puss
You mentioned the feet is swollen - is it progressing in size.
yes and he said yes he did feel al ittle feverish earlier
You also mentioned there is a pus pocket - is it oozing now?
his father kinda sliced it or put a hole in it and it drained
Does he have history of diabetes?
Let me brief you now.
Presence of large swelling + soreness and fever are not good signs.
If this lesion was smaller, I would have advised to use topical antiseptic creams.
However I think he has crossed that stage.
Since you have no insurance, ER may not be the feasible option.
I would recommend that you find a low cost surgical clinic where the doctor accepts non insurance patients.
okay that's where I am running int o problems I guess finding that
Since I practice far away from your location, I do not have personal reference of doctor.
I will continue to search
I thought possibly Walgreens they have a clinic
I shall try my best and search for similar doctors from your locality
and will mail it to your email id.
my zip is 70072
see I have insurance and he has none
I am not very sure if the doctors there at Walgreens have abilities to handle surgical issues.
he just moved from Mississippi here with his father and I
He needs a surgeon who can examine the wound
the wound is notr large
he may need local debridement under aseptic precautions
he didn't even know that he had one he said until a few days ago
he know it stared when he stepped into the swamp and hot something
okay so a local surgeon
The next best option until you find a clinic is to visit an urgent care clinic managed by registered nurse practitioner.
I think they can help you prescribe antibiotics.
I would use penicillin group of antibiotics in this case.
okay is that over the counter or by prescription?
It can be extremely helpful until you find the right surgeon.
Oral antibiotics are not over the counter.
okay then he needs a doctors visit afterall..I figured ths from the beginning. I guess sice he is not from here and I have always had insurance I am a little lost
If any of such oral antibiotic left over from your previous prescription, he may use it.
Else visit a registered nurse practitioner. He/she can give a prescription to you with less charges.
ahhh smart..thank you good suggestion
I'll try and find a doctor if possible and mail it to you.
thnk you so much
to my email address?
I pray this is not gain green..(hope I spelled that right.
do I wait or are we done?
yes. I'll send it across to the email id with which you registered as soon as I find out.
okay thanks so much
But get hold of antibiotic soon.
hopefully just some infection
Wish him a speedy recovery.
Thanks for visiting me here. Bye for now.
