User:I cut myself on glass a few days ago and I'm sure it cut a artery cause it was squirting blood...The bleeding stopped after ten minutes...feeling has returned to my hand...but the cut is swallon...sensitive and my forearm had brusing...will my artery die? Or is it just going to heal on its own..swelling has been decreasing
Doctor:If it was squirting blood, it is highly likely that an artery was cut
Doctor:decreasing swelling is a good sign
Doctor:but we will still have to prevent any infection
Doctor:Returning sensations means that the artery has sealed itself
Doctor:I hope you did visit an ER and got the wound sutured
Doctor:If there is no pain right now, and if you do not have any fever, you can be positive about te wound healing in it's own
Doctor:otherwise you will need to consult your doctor to see if there is any infection
Doctor:are you there?
User:Been using neoporne. ..forearm is slightly yellow after some brusing has gone away...did not go to the er. Don't have insurence...will this sealed artery cause future problems? And how long before I can go to the gym and apply stress to it? I don't wanna bust the artery
Doctor:You will need to give it at least 2 months time before you can go to the gym
User:Any future problems from this cut? And loss of this blood flow from artery?
Doctor:I sincerely hope you don't have nay ifection
Doctor:If it heals well then you can be sure that is will not cause any future problems
Doctor:but it should heal without getting infected
Doctor:that is most important right now
User:How can I tell if it's infected
Doctor:I would not be able to tell you about how bad the injury was... there is no way of knowing that as I have not seen the wound
Doctor:If you see any pus in the wound and if you see increasing redness spreading across the arm
User:What does yellow on my forearm mean
User:And the brusing
Doctor:and if you get any fever, that means the wound is infected
Doctor:otherwise it will heal
Doctor:Yellow means that the bleeding that happened when you got the cit is getting absorbed
Doctor:yellow is not worrying
Doctor:if tuns red
Doctor:and if the swelling gets worse then you will need to see a doctor
User:What happens to the sealed off artery? Will I forever have less blood flow to my hand now?
Doctor:It is unfortunate that you can not get healthcare without insurance
Doctor:No, the sealed off artery means only the damaged part of it will seal itself
Doctor:the blood flow will be maintained
Doctor:don't worry about these now
Doctor:first get your wound healed
Doctor:and prevent it from getting infected
Doctor:because if it gets infected, it can become fatal
Doctor:is there anything else you would like to ask me?
User:For real and this free Obama care is gonna cost me money...any other home remedies you can recommend for he infection prevention? NNeosprine is all i got...8m letting the wound dry at the moment in the free air
Doctor:let the wound dry
Doctor:don't let any water fall on the wound at any cost
Doctor:Keep the wound clean
Doctor:continue to apply the neosporin ointment
Doctor:You can buy iodine solution and hydrogen peroxide solution from your local pharmacy
Doctor:and you can clean the wound with these
Doctor:after you clean the wound you can apply the neosporin ointment and apply the bandage
User:So a fevor is the first sign of infection?
Doctor:Yes, possibly
Doctor:if you get fever and pus in the wound that means it is infected
Doctor:is there anything else I can do for you?
User:No pus at all so far...wound appears to be wet red I should take it easy? When using my hand I can feel slight this because of the artery streching?
Doctor:The wound seems to healing well
Doctor:the pain is not because of the artery
Doctor:it is because of the wound itself
User:Cause whenever my heart starts to rise I feel it more...Also should I stay away from alcohol during this time? Drinking lot of water?
Doctor:you should drink adequate amounts of water
Doctor:avoid alcohol and smoking
Doctor:smoking and alcohol will delay the healing process
User:Will do...are there any over the counter anti biotic you could suggest?
Doctor:There are no over the counter antibiotics at all
Doctor:All antibiotics are prescription only
Doctor:You can apply that neosporin
Doctor:it is a good antibiotic cream
Doctor:but no oral antibiotics are available as OTC
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me here
Doctor:have a good day ahead
Doctor:take care
