User:I have had severe pain directly above the hip bone for 8 days. X-rays do not show fracture or displacement. Walking upright is a chore causing a pulling pain in the outer hip. The area of pain has not changed in 8 days. I am taking Aleve for inflammation.
Doctor:From your description it looks like a muscular pain
Doctor:or a stone in the kidney that has got stuck in the ureter
Doctor:Have you got an ultrasound scan done?
User:After looking at the anatomy chart, the muscle that supports the abdomen seems to be the area....the linquinal muscle?
User:No kidneys tone and CT scan show no remarkable changes
Doctor:In that area there are 3 muscles
Doctor:that is external oblique
Doctor:internal oblique
Doctor:and transverse abdominis
User:It shows like a long tendon?
Doctor:Is the pain in the front or the side?
User:Left side
Doctor:External oblique is attached to the hip bone
User:Left side between the waist line and top of hip bone
Doctor:most likely cause would be some unnoticed sprain
Doctor:If the CT scan showed nothing then it is nothing serious
Doctor:You would need a couple of weeks to recover
Doctor:during this time you will need plenty of rest
Doctor:no bending or lifting
Doctor:no twisting movements of your hips
Doctor:Take a combination of good painkiller and muscle relaxant
User:OK. I understand that there is no life threatening diagnosis. I would love to be able to walk upright without a walker and severe pain.
Doctor:Apply ice to the area about 3 to 4 times day (10 to 15 minutes each time)
User:I have you have any recommendations of names
Doctor:Alternate ice application with hot compress twice
Doctor:I am not aware of the brand names i available in your country
Doctor:The contents should be Aceclofenac+Chlorzoxazone
Doctor:Please do not walk or do any exercises for 2 weeks
Doctor:you need to give it time to heal
Doctor:you need rest
Doctor:once the pain reduces you can resume your walking
Doctor:and follow my other recommendations as well
Doctor:you will be alright pretty soon
Doctor:is there anything else I can help you with?
User:It is a trial of my nerves not being able to be mobile since at my age I am usually ok
Doctor:I can understand your urge to be up and about
Doctor:Trust me, giving some rest will most certainly help
User:Would you recommend a MRI or is that useless
Doctor:It will be mostly useless
Doctor:if something was to be found it would have been found on the CT
User:Thank you. I found this to help me.
Doctor:You are most welcome
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me here
Doctor:have a great evening ahead
Doctor:and take rest
User:You too....what country are you in
Doctor:I am in India, (Bangalore)
User:Beautiful country
Doctor:Sure is mam, thank you
User:Thank you again for your help
Doctor:It was my pleasure
Doctor:take care
