User:Hi, my daughter is just about to turn 9. we are having an excessive amount of masturbation, which occurred days after we stopped her Oxcarb for seizures. She has epilepsy. She had masturbation before Epilepsy was ever diagnosed, but the Oxcarb for seizures also greatly diminished the masturbation. Do u think she is having benign rolandic seizures and it is triggerring the masturbation? Do the 2 have any relation?
Doctor:I am Dr Vaishalee
User:We stopped med because clear eeg, and no sign of seizures in months. we weened off slow per neurologist.
Doctor:Masturbation is a very primitive type of behavior in kids
Doctor:It may happen in some neurological conditions when a particular area in the brain is not functioning well
Doctor:Both do not seem to be related
Doctor:Are you there?
Doctor:Masturbation is normal at any stage in life
User:she is doing it to the point of injuring herself, very hard to stop her from doing it at school, on furniture. she uses NO discretion. Although it has gotten a little better by allowing that behavior any time she desires as long as she does it in private (bathroom, her bedroom) Stress makes it worse, just like w seizures.
Doctor:It indicates a neurological disturbance when it is excessive
Doctor:There is one particular area in brain that is associated with masturbation
Doctor:The damage to that area is also associated with self harm
User:We went to doc yesterday, going back on Oxcarb. She is asking "mommy make it stop! make it go away"... It is keeping her up at night, the feeling or need to masturbate is waking her. She get uup, urinates a tiny bit, says that helps a little, we have ruled out UTI
User:We adopted her at birth. Any opinion on the exposure to Meth in relation to either??
Doctor:I think she needs neurological consult and MRI of brain to see if something is going on
Doctor:Meth causes symptoms like a state of no emotions
Doctor:mind-less condition
Doctor:You may want to find the family history
User:She had 3 day EEG inpatient, and MRI in August, but was on Oxcarb. All was clear. Thats why Nuero said we could try to ween off meds, but this came back with a vingence. We do have family history of B mom, but not dad. Some mental illness, no epilepsy.
Doctor:Excessive masturbation must be having a cause
Doctor:It may just be a a way to feel better
Doctor:maybe a psychiatric consult to come to a diagnosis may also help
Doctor:Also need to check if she has itching
Doctor:that may seem like masturbation
Doctor:Are you there?
User:We see a Child Psychologist, Pedi Neurologist, and a Pediuatric Behavior Specialist. They disagree on whether the 2 are related. Neuro says NO. Pedi Psych says yes. Thats why i wanted a 2nd opinion, although it really does not matter. But if she grows out of seizyres, my hope is grows out of her hypersexuality too??
Doctor:Do you think she has some discharge
Doctor:Are you there?
Doctor:You may try some changes in her diet like giving her pure water
User:She says it does not itch. But, presently very swollen from doing it so intense on hard chair at school. She has been examined, and interviewed more than once since age 5 because of masturbation, and any type of sexual abuse has been ruled out. She does have clear flid in panties after, and asks to change panties.
Doctor:It will help controlling any infection of throat and the brain as a result
User:She is having an extrem problem not wantinbg ANY clothes, underwear touching her. makes it worse.
Doctor:Did you feed her with formula at birth?
User:are you sayinbg water only for like 24hrs
User:Yes formula, bi
Doctor:But whatever you feed her, make it hygienic and give her pure water to drink
Doctor:Omega 3, 6, 9 may cause some behaviour issues
Doctor:these are commonly seen in formulas
User:yes formula since adopted, no breast milk. Very healthy besides these things. Sick very little
User:Its in the milk she drinks now. I will try that.
Doctor:Actually take her off that milk
Doctor:that has omega 3 6 9
User:She was not breast fed since adopted
User:has omega 3, its organic
Doctor:I understand
Doctor:I would advise you to give her cows milk
Doctor:that does not have omegas
Doctor:2% would be great
Doctor:2% cows milk
User:ok, thx for your time! Just a concerned mom, struggluing with this
Doctor:I think if you follow these two measures your kids condition will definitely improve
Doctor:Water from reverse osmosis technique
User:can i print this
Doctor:bottled water from grocery store
Doctor:I am not sure
Doctor:copy paste it
User:ok, thanks, and God Bless You!
Doctor:Thanks for consulting
Doctor:Take care
