Doctor:How can I help you?
User:I have a throat pain on one side. It is exactly just below the throat(neck??). The pain is not continuous. I can feel pain sometimes. but not always
User:not while eating or drinking.
User:this problem exists from the past 1 year or so
User:and i was a smoker for more than 10 years and stopped smoking just 2 months before
User:I did the endoscopic test 3 months before and the doctor said nothing found harmful.
User:is it a serious issue? it is really annoying me
Doctor:If endoscopy was done and no structural abnormalities was detected,
Doctor:then the pain may not be due to serious organic pathology.
Doctor:However tonsil and oral structures which are in the oral cavit
Doctor:*cavity are not checked by endoscopy.
Doctor:It is advisable to consult an ENT surgeon
Doctor:who can physically examine your throat and tonsil
Doctor:to see if there are any changes there
Doctor:Since your symptoms is more than a year old, it is important that you seek ENT surgeons help to understand and treat this problem.

User:I had consulted the ENT doctor. He said some mild tonsillitis is there, for which he gave some antibiotics as he told me that, surgery is not advisable for tonsillitis at this age.
User:But, my pain is just below the tonsil area
User:he said that might be some infection and gave medicines
Doctor:May I know when you consulted the surgeon?
Doctor:And may I know your age?
User:around 3 months before and he only did the endoscopic test
User:i am 37 years old

User:i am unable to tell how frequent it is. but, it lasts only for few minutes

User:itz not severe. but, it irritates me for some time and then it is normal

User:the pain is like similar to if we poke with the needle.

User:but, when i do endoscopy, he told me that, my voice box is reddish.
User:and i asked for the reason. he said, that might be due to acidity

Doctor:but I don't think this irritation would last only for few minutes.

Doctor:In fact inflammed tonsils or throat structures also don't cause short lived irritation.
User:then, what are other possibilities doctor?
Doctor:If your doctors suspected hyperacidity, then you can try antacids for 2-3 weeks and see if you feel better.
User:i tried with pantacid for 2 weeks.
User:but, it seems, this problem is not subsided
User:I am restless, as I am worried this could be a cancerous symptom.
User:can this be a case?
Doctor:The pain is dscription is definitely not similar to people with cancer.
User:thank god. feeling relaxed a bit now
Doctor:None of the serious organic medical condition the short lived throat discomfort you described.
Doctor:if all the tests are normal, then may be this is due to anxiety per se.

Doctor:There are multiple clinical conditions associated with throat pain.
Doctor:A few are benign ones and some are serious ones.
Doctor:The pain that you have definitely doesn't sound to be due to cancer.

Doctor:Mild inflammation of tonsil and voice box do produce throat irritation

Doctor:however the symptoms are not similar to your description (short lived ones).
Doctor:Therefore it is possible that the pain may be due to anxiety.
Doctor:You can discuss with your ENT surgeon and check with him if anxiety is a cause.
Doctor:If yes, it can be addressed differently.

Doctor:Your doctor who examined you should be able to rule out all other causes of throat ache.
