User :   Hi i am 19 years of age and i have not had a period in two months. i am not pregnant but my friend seems to think this is because i do not eat enough and do too much exercise. i go to the gym and work out for about an hour 5 days a week. in the week i eat special k for breakfast have fruit for lunch and have a balanced meal for dinner. i weigh just under 8 and a half stone and am 5ft 6. can you help?

User :   sorry what does that mean?
Doctor :   When did you start getting your periods?
User :   when i was 13
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Were they this way anytime before?
User :   no they have always been quite regular and i have always had one once a month
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Have you lost a lot of weight recently?
User :   well since the start of this year i have been watching what i eat and have ate a lot less than i used to. at the start of the year i was about 9 and a half stone and i now sway between 8 and 8 and a half stone
Doctor :   Do you feel adequately hungry?
User :   no i am hungry most of the time but i think it is because i do love food
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Do you feel anxious or nervous anytime?
User :   i am very paranoid and anxious about my weight and feel that i have a bit of a fat belly, which i am very paranoid about hence why i exercise 5 times a week and try not to eat lots

Doctor :   I suggest that you get your Thyroid profile tested once as overactive Thyroid gland could produce these symptoms.
User :   how do i do this. by going to to a gp?
Doctor :   You can directly visit a gynaecologist and get evaluated.
User :   what is a overactive thyroid gland?
Doctor :   When your Thyroid starts producing more hormones than usual
Doctor :   there is weight loss, excessive heat intolerance, irregular periods
