Doctor:How can I help you?
User:I needed a help wit a good diet plan for my 15 month old baby
Doctor:I shall help you within my expertise. However I would like to know why you wish to plan a fixed diet for a 15 month baby.
User:Also an opinion whether it is mandatory to give the chicken pox vaccine at this age
User:Some pediatricians say it is best that the child gets chicken pox at this age, if at all he should get it
Doctor:Children at this age are supposed to expore and learn; in such cases, I just wonder why you wish to implement strict diet plan on the child.
User:he is 9.5 kgs, im not sure if I'm giving him the right food
User:77 cms
User:not a strict diet plan, but I can then ensure I give him the necessary food which will help him grow well
Doctor:Chicken pox vaccination is an optional vaccination. It's not a must and should vaccination as per national immunization schedule; but always better to vaccinate to prevent later infections.
Doctor:Therefore it would be your choice to vaccinate him with chicken pox.
Doctor:*Not all pediatrician suggest chicken pox vaccination.
Doctor:If you choose to vaccinate him, then this is the ideal time to give him the first shot.

User:in the evening - an XXXXXXX
User:or abt 250 ml of milk
User:night- XXXXXXX with moong dal & potato & veggies at times

User:this is it
User:also at lunch i try n give him any vegetable that is cooked for us..a little bit
User:now could u suggest what I should change or add to his diet
Doctor:You are giving him a well balanced diet.
Doctor:Before I comment further, I wish to share with you two details.
Doctor:1. His weight seems adequate to me.
Doctor:Generally children triple their birth weight by around 1 year of age (12 months);
Doctor:I am unware your son's birth weight; so can you specify his birth weight?
User:yes his birth weight was 2.85
Doctor:So he has well tripled his weight; his weight is adequate for his age.
User:he is 15 montsh now but doesnt seem to have gained too much weight since March- April 2013, he turned one on April 2013
Doctor:The weight gain after 1 year is gradual. As per the WHO weight chart, average weight of a child at 15 months is 8 kg.
Doctor:So his current diet is very adequate to him.
User:oh ok
User:how much milk intake is required at this age?
Doctor:2. Second aspect that I wish to share with you is that
Doctor:children eat as per their body needs and capabilities.
User:shud i substitute the evening fruit for Milk?
Doctor:Often, when parent try to force food, children rebuke it.
Doctor:Therefore do not enforce fixed timing and amount on your child.
Doctor:As such there is no fixed milk requirements.
User:Ok dr
Doctor:3. Lastly, you will need to bring in new food / new recipe. For example
Doctor:Include other fruits instead of only keeping to XXXXXXX
Doctor:Try different breakfast recipe... Add colorful fruits and vegetablet to it.
Doctor:Encourage him/promise him a reward for completing the whole meal.
Doctor:And fulfil promises.
Doctor:Giving them varieties and congratulating him when completing the whole food will encourage your child to eat better and grow healthy.
Doctor:Hope it is clear to you.
Doctor:Are you there?
