User :   i am 52 yr old waking up with heart palpitations 110 bpm I have had blood tests slight anemia low ferritin high iron 199.. my legs have felt weak..skipped heartbeats during the day. taking iron 45 mg 1-2 x daily Should i continue with high iron..can these palpitations be dangerous...had heart tests last year everything was ok anemia causing palpitations

Doctor :   since you are having anemia, stopping the iron supplements wil not be good
User :   i have been exercising at night 3-4 times a week without problems ellipitical machine 30 min
Doctor :   as 1 year is over, it is necessary that you get a complete check done.
User :   a new heart check? doc said my heart sounded ok what could be causing palpitations anemia?
Doctor :   do you have any other symptoms like chest pain, tightness, breathing trouble, sweating, etc?
User :   yes i have been waking up with night sweats clammy feeling
Doctor :   anemia can cause palpitations , since oxygen concentration becomes low due to anemia, the blood supply needed is more so heart has to work extra for it resulting in palpitations.
User :   it seems a times at night that my breathing is heavier when i wake up..I am only slightly anemis can that cause palpitatios..low ferritin 16 can that cause it? should i se a doc tomm

Doctor :   since your symptoms have been persistent en=ven when taking iron supplements, you should get a repeat check done
User :   no i do have a slight MVP grandfather died 75 with heart attack

User :   should i worry because my iron is so high...should i continue to take 2 iron tabs I bleed heavily every month loose lots of i losing other minerals too
User :   20 years ago..echo was redone last year showed slight mvp does that ever get worse with stress
Doctor :   do you mean to say that you have heavy blood flow during periods? if yes, are your periods regular?
User :   yes period comes about every 20 days
Doctor :   at your age, altered vaginal bleeding could be suggestive of other underlying issues like DUB (dysfunctional uterine bleeding) ovarian cysts, cervical cancer. so you will need a thorough check done by a gynecologist (not a GP)

User :   can slight anemia and ferritin cause these symptoms
