Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
Doctor :   Alcohol can cause damage to the liver leading to failure of the liver organ.
Doctor :   which can inturn lead to oesophageal varices/gastritis.
Doctor :   Dark chalky vomitus is due to presence of blood in the vomit.
Doctor :   This can happen either due to gastritis /bleeding gastric ulcer or due to oesophageal varices.
Doctor :   Since you also report of abdominal discomfort,
Doctor :   your husband needs evaluation - physical examination of the abdomen and liver
Doctor :   endoscopic examination.

User :   i told him that but he refuses to go
User :   what sighns should i look out for
User :   if it gets more serious
Doctor :   If there are further such episodes, if you find the bloating is increasing,
Doctor :   if he isn't responding to you/becoming unconscious,
Doctor :   cold clammy limbs.
Doctor :   These are signs that things are getting worse.
User :   ok no he's ok very pale though
User :   his mother had an anyurism of the aorta ,its not some thing like that ?
Doctor :   presence of palor is again not a good sign.
