Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
How can I help you?
User :   Good eveining
Doctor :
Good evening
Doctor :
You can proceed with your query
User :   already i have chat regarding my daughter
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :
Kindly bear for a minute. I am on an emergency call
User :   she is 20 months old, 3 months before she had suffered from gait disturbanced and doctor here diagnosed as viral cerebeleties
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :   It is a problem with the cerebellum
User :   and we have gone for MRI to check whether any mass formation is there and it was found her brain is clean
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :
Was there any infection or fluid found
User :   it was not checked but before she suffered from viral cerebeleties she has suffered from checken pox
Doctor :
Your has diagnosed like that because cerebellum is the part of brain which is responsible for gait and posture
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
Has these disturbances started henceforth?
User :   so doctors assummed that it is acase of post ingection of cerebelum becoz of that
Doctor :   Ok

User :   after one month of checken pox
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
So did it develop gradually?
User :   she has taken medicine for 1.5 months deflazacots
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
Can you tell the active medicament in the tablet?
Doctor :
Like for what it was given atleast?
User :   yes she is developing gradually and try to walk also independently but from 2 days she is not able to walk , we have obsereved she has some mild fever and cold
Doctor :   Ok
User :   active indicaments means
Doctor :
Is she being continued with the medication?
Doctor :   Its ok
Doctor :
It is a steroid preparation
Doctor :
which is given to minimize inflammatory changes in the brain
User :   no now deflazacot is discontinued and she is taking only calcium and vitamins
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
Was it tapered and then withdrawn gradually?
User :   yes first 15 days 1.5 tabs of 6mg then 7 days 1.0 tabs then 0.5 for 21 days
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
thats good
Doctor :
So when was that stopped?
Doctor :
How is she now? Other than fever which you have mentioned?
User :   after 21 days of 0.5 mg she als ytaken it 0.2 mg for next 15 days and it was stopped 15 days before today
Doctor :
Ok
User :   she is having some cold and may be bodyache , but the concern is why she not able to stand now is it again detoriating
Doctor :
Since she is regaining her functions, treatment is successful
Doctor :
But now temporarily it might not be possible for her due to an infection I feel
Doctor :
Because with even mild infection, strong adults themselves cannot do normal activities well
Doctor :
But this is recovering child
Doctor :
So she is feeling it difficult
Doctor :
Are you there?
User :   in the last months also she had some throat infection and she is not able to sit and stand,at that time she has taken antibiotic for throat infection
User :   yes
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :
Now children are more prone to infections
Doctor :
because their immunity will be developing
Doctor :
and all such infections are natural vaccinations to build IMMUNITY
User :   and after 3 days she was recovered and able to sit and stand with support
Doctor :   So that is the case even now
Doctor :   Is she active in other parameters?
User :   yes she is quite active
Doctor :   Then there wont be a need of antibiotics now
Doctor :
You can give her paracetamol for fever
Doctor :
That would be sufficient now
User :   but the concern is she is not able to stand and walk , i am in fear whether the same thing happened
Doctor :
No need to panic about that
Doctor :
It is because of an infection now
Doctor :
The previous case was a complication of infection
User :   is there any bad impact in taking antibiotics
Doctor :
Everytime there wont be a complication
Doctor :
Like unnecessary antibiotic intervention is not recommended especially in children
User :   is she require any further test to diagnose any further complication
Doctor :   Not required now
Doctor :
She is improving
Doctor :
So give her some time
User :   yes in 3 days before she is independenly walk without suport but from yesterday she wont
Doctor :   Yes it is only a temporary because of this infection

Doctor :
Meanwhile feed her well
User :   is that other infection affect the cerebellum
Doctor :
and give her paracetamol
Doctor :
No
Doctor :
You need not worry about it
User :   she is taking mostly protien diet
Doctor :
Be positive
Doctor :   Yes it is essential for muscular health
Doctor :
Was it specifically advised by your doctor?
User :   I am really feared when same symptoms persist
Doctor :
Yes that fear will be there
User :   yes dr advised to take proten rich diet to build the tissue
User :   whether the line of treatment which she is taking is good?
Doctor :   Yes
User :   pls advise what can be done at this stage
Doctor :   Well she had taken steroids which was helpful
Doctor :
Now she is recovering and will require some amount of time to regain her functions
User :   is there any bad impact of having steroid/
Doctor :
You can manually massage her limbs which help improve muscle, circulation
Doctor :
and there will be a sensory stimulation as well
Doctor :
No steroid was give to help in the process
User :   what can be done for sensory stimulation
Doctor :
Like you or someother person in the family can manually massage her legs and hands
Doctor :
it will help in the sensory part
User :   is that any other medication she is required
Doctor :
Do it smooth and swift mannere
Doctor :
Nothing more than these measures
User :   how many days more it will take to cure? whether she is fully cure?
Doctor :   It will take atleast 2 months

Doctor :
But it is a gradual process
Doctor :
and you will see changes gradually
User :   what can be the exact cause of such infection
Doctor :   Which the present one or the past one?

User :   past one big one
Doctor :
As you correlate with chicken pox
Doctor :
it would be viral
User :   what test it will show the exact cause
Doctor :   It is not possible to determine that

Doctor :
More important than that is treating it I feel
Doctor :
which has been done
User :   is this fully cured in future
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :
to a reasonably good extent
User :   ok
Doctor :
Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   what food she will take?
Doctor :   As she is taking a good protein rich diet

Doctor :
that is fine
Doctor :
I wish her all the best from my side
User :   so i wil not worry for this current illness
Doctor :
Yes that is the right approach
Doctor :
If it deteriorates or does not improve after 2 days
Doctor :
then you can visit your pediatrician
Doctor :
and he may prescribe antibiotics if necessary
Doctor :
But right now you should not worry at all
User :   my father him self is peditrician but she has not encounter this viral cerebeleties in his tenure
Doctor :
Ok
User :   that is the reason she also frightened
Doctor :   Such complications are rare
Doctor :
But anyway she is improving
Doctor :
That is clear
User :   yes she has improved but not in last 2 days
Doctor :
That is fine
Doctor :
I have explained that part
Doctor :
Is there anything else you want to ask?
User :   no thanks dr if any will encounter i will chat with you. thanks
Doctor :
