User :   hello i have been to my doctors and she says i have a very high red blood cell count and puss mixed in with my blood they have tried to grow this and she says it has not so it is nothing to worry about my stomach blows up after food i look 3 months pregnant this happens almost instantly i also get swelling of the ankles the tummy
Doctor :   what symptoms do you have at present apart from what you have already typed?
Doctor :   has the culture reports come back?
User :   last night i had food and 10 minutes after felt sick the swelling comes on throught he day and goes off in the morning like a repaeat cycle i weighed myself a few days ago before bedtime and i was 11lbs heavier than my normal weight i went back to my7 normal weight the morning after i am 5ft 3" size 6 and weight 7st 5lbs normally
Doctor :   do you have other symptoms like nausea, heartburn, blelching etc?
User :   no
Doctor :   what symptoms did you have after taking food? what food did you take yesterday?
User :   my stomach blows up like i am pregnant i had chips and fish
Doctor :   ok. i would recommend you to follow these steps and see if you feel better.
Doctor :   1) take antacids like Tab TUMS or Prilosec twice a day before food (15 minutes before food)
User :   the culture reports come back and it said that the puss in my blood had come from a growth that was not active anymore
Doctor :   2) be on a bland diet with no spicy/fried/oily/fatty/non vegetarian food
Doctor :   since the culture reports came back normal, infection is ruled out and you probably have teh symptoms due to gastritis
Doctor :   3) do not leave stomach empty for more than 3 hours except when you sleep
Doctor :   4) avoid citrus fruits and juices.
Doctor :   5) drink about 10-12 glasses of water per day.
User :   i have to admit i have been eating a lot of takeaways like indians fried food like scampi and chips for the last few months the condition has gradually got worse
User :   i drink 2ltrs of water daily
Doctor :   6) stick to simple home made foods with simple and easily digestible foods without much oil or spice
Doctor :   you should feel better in 3-5 days time by sticking to these recommendations
Doctor :   avoid having soda or caffienated beverages including tea/coffee
User :   is the puss in my blood going to cause blood posioning
Doctor :   they will aggravate your problems
Doctor :   yes, puss in blood can cause widespread septicemia
Doctor :   are you on medications at present?
User :   i take 2 types of anti deppresents i have been on these since i was 17 i have them changed a few times i also tack tryaxathene sorry if thats spelt wrong its to calm me down sometimes
Doctor :   ok. are you still continuing on them?
User :   yes you said avoid citrus drinks my doctor has told me to drink lots of orange juice
Doctor :   the reason I told you to avoid is the acid content that can cause more irritation of the gastric mucosa leading to more bloating.
User :   and she is not going to give me anti biotics is this right
User :   ok
Doctor :   if you feel fine with taking it, then continue to take a diluted version of it diluted with water
Doctor :   if no infection is found, she will not give you antibiotics
User :   ok
Doctor :   if with the above suggestions you do not feel fine in next 5-7 days, then
Doctor :   I would recommend you to go ahead with a gastroenterology opinion
Doctor :   and a endoscopy to look at the gastric mucosa and see if any damage is there
Doctor :   due to acid production that is causing the bloating and distension
User :   she is refering me to claremount hospital in sheffield in the next few weeks
Doctor :   it will also rule out other anatomical problems associated with the stomach
Doctor :   ok.
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
User :   she has mentioned a stent what is that she says it is very rare i am 36 is it more common in older people or as the age got nothing to do with it
User :   yes
Doctor :   for what purpose has she mentioned the stent?
User :   she says i might have a enlarged kidney originally she said i had a water infection
Doctor :   ok. is it treated now? if the problem is still present, then you might require the stent. if the problem has resolved, then you might not need it.
Doctor :   the stent is usually needed if there is any stricture involved
Doctor :   if the stricture is got resolved, then there will be no need for the stent.
User :   the water infection? i presume so has i would have got anti biotics thats what ashe normally gives me could a food allergy be causing any of the above symptons as she is waiting for them to come back too
Doctor :   no, usually water infection will not be caused due to food issues. your symptoms mostly point towards possibility of gastritis
Doctor :   so you might not need antibiotics since your culture results have also come back normal
User :   i nearly went to the hospital last night has the pain was too much would they have been able to help i am very concerened about blood posioning septicimier
Doctor :   the pain can be controlled with antispasmodics. the blood septicemia if present could have been detected with blood culture sensitivity reports
Doctor :   if in doubt request your treating doctor for repeat test
Doctor :   since due to faulty collection of sample, sometimes you can get negative test results
Doctor :   was ultrasound abdomen done for you last night or before?
User :   she has not mentioned septicemia. said that the puss was in my blood and not too worry
Doctor :   ok.
User :   no not had that done ultrasound
Doctor :   ok.
User :   doers it take a long time for septicemia to develop if its not present now
Doctor :   no, it can spread and become problematic very soon. it will accompany high fever and weakness
User :   in your oppinion i am being reffered in the next few weeks to a hospital in the mean time do i have anything to be concerned about what i mean is do i need to get any further medical attention
Doctor :   as for now continue with the recommendations I gave you earlier in iour discussion and
Doctor :   get referred to the hospital suggested by your treating doctor
Doctor :   meet a gastroenterologist there and discuss your problems
User :   ok thank you
Doctor :   get a repeat blood culture test done and see if any infection is still present
Doctor :   be in regular follow-up with the doctor
Doctor :   is there anything else I can help you with?
User :   no thank you for your help
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me. bye for now.
