User :   when my partner and I have sex, she gets a small tear, like a paper cut at the opening of her vagina, in the 6 o'clock position. After sex it is painful for her, she describes it as like toothache. when we have sex she is well lubricated and we use a lubricant too. We don't have rough sex, but this happens every time and several days to heal. 11 years ago she had a baby and experienced some tearing during delivery and required stitching, she has not had a sexual relationship since then until we met, she did not have this problem in past relationships before her baby, could the stitching after her delivery be the cause of our current problems? What options do we have? It is having an adverse effect on our relationship, we just want to be able to do what any other couple does when they love each other. Please help.
Doctor :   HI
Doctor :
User :   hello
Doctor :   I am reading the query
Doctor :   The reason for the cut in the vaginal wall should not be due to the cut during her past delivery as it should have healed by now
Doctor :   Was she not sexually active till now after the delivery ?
Doctor :   I mean till the time she met you
User :   no not since having her baby
Doctor :   Any reason for that?
Doctor :   since how long is your relationship been?
User :   she didn't meet the right man, her child has asbergers syndrome and she was a single parent
User :   we have been together six months and the tear happens every time we have sex
Doctor :   Ok what is her age now?
User :   39
Doctor :   Ok I think it takes time before she adjusts to the sexual activity
Doctor :   Otherwise there is a procedure that can widen her vaginal walls
User :   I have read that many women experience this after being stitched when they never had it before
Doctor :   The second thing is she needs an examination locally which can also check if the episiotomy(cut) during the delivery is causing some problem
Doctor :   You are partially right but this happens to women if the wound is not healed well
Doctor :   That is the reason why she needs to reasses the scar of the wound
Doctor :   Did you follow?
User :   she has had no problems in that area in the years since, I had read that tearing can weaken the tissue and that once it starts to tear, scar tissue forms making tearing more likely?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   You are right, hence there is a procedure to widen the vaginal walls and make the tissue more lax
Doctor :   the tear is not caused and at the same time sex is satisfying
User :   I follow what you have said. she may need an examination to check how she healed after the episiotomy
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   if it is healed well
Doctor :   then she needs slight widedning
