Doctor:please proceed with your query
User:i have had this problem last month as well. it is ovulation time for me. first i had clear sticky discharge but in a large amount. and now i have a yellowy discharge
User:and it just does not smell right for me.
User:i had this last month as well. i only had sexual intercourse with my boyfriend with no one else so does he
Doctor:does this happen with each cycle?
User:so there is no chance of a sexual transmitted disease
User:not really
User:the vaginal discharge increases during ovulation time every month
User:but usually there is no smell
User:i had the exact same problem last month and then the smell disappeared.
Doctor:Okay.. This increase in vaginal discharge is seen during the ovulation time, but not in amounts which cause a concern
User:and i noticed that even though i may have a large amount of vaginal discharge in general during that period , the smell occurs after having a sexual intercourse
Doctor:even if you have sexual intercourse with a single partner, there are chances of sexually transmitted diseases
Doctor:can you describe the smell?
User:i always had too much vaginal discharge. since i was a teenager (i am 21) i had to wear a pad in order to keep my underwear dry
User:i doesn't smell like yeast or bread
User:it smells acidy
User:i am in university and our health centre does not provide a gyn. i will be home in a month. so i was just wondering if i should be worried
User:and why does that happen
User:no itching,no soreness,no rash
Doctor:I can only think of a mild bacterial/fungal infection at this point of time
User:but i had the same thing last month as well
Doctor:I suggest you get a vaginal swab culture and sensitivity test done along with a gram staining and KOH mount exam
User:last month i took a pill for fungal infections and it covers you for a period of 3 months.and nothing changed
Doctor:I can understand, normally, during ovulation the vaginal discharge increases considerably and it also changes in consistency and smell
Doctor:I am only saying this just to be on the safer side
User:ok doctor thank you
User:as soon as i get back home i will be tested
User:is there anything my boyfriend can be checked for?
User:he is healthy,no symptoms of anything, only one partner
Doctor:Yes, your boyfriend should also get his urine and prostatic fluid culture and sensitivity
User:ok doctor.thank you
Doctor:It could just be a normal variation, but it is always better to confirm it though, so go ahead and get it tested when it is feasible for you
Doctor:You are welcome, is there anything else you would want to discuss miss?
User:no doctor thank you
Doctor:Okay. Thank you for consulting me. Have a great evening.
Doctor:Bye for now.
