User :   hello, my 8th month old daughter is bleeding from her vagina, and shes got a strawberry birthmark right down there next to it and thats starting to bleed and i dont no if shes got her period
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   LET me read your query
User :   hello
Doctor :   does she have any rashes or any bleeding from any other part of the body ?
User :   yes i just changed her nappie and i saw blood and i had a closer look and it seemed that it looked like she had her period
User :   but i didnt know that an 8th month old baby could have her period soo young,..
Doctor :   this is not periods
User :   what would it be?
Doctor :   was the bleeding severe ?
User :   no its not that much
User :   but i keep wiping it and it comes back slowly
User :   and her stawberry birthmark the red lump birth mark is starting to bleed as wel.. not that much but is that dangerous?
Doctor :   Usually, sometimes hormones if high can cause some form of bleeding in young infants, within 1 month age after birth , this is due to the mothers hormones passing into the baby during birth
User :   can it do that as well cause im breast feeding?
Doctor :   does the blood come from the vagina or the skin surrounding it ?
User :   the vagina
User :   but then next to her vagina shes got a birthmark that is a dark red sort of like a ballon and its starting to bleed
Doctor :   sine there is bleeding from the birth mark as well, it does not seem to be from the vagina
Doctor :   this could be a bleeding disoreder due to low platelet counts
User :   what should i do?
Doctor :   it is better , if you can get her blood tested , to include a complete blood count
User :   cause i wiped away the bit of blood from her birth mark and i can see blood coming from her vagina only little bits
User :   ok yes i will do that tomorrow
Doctor :   this will show if there is a low platelet counts
Doctor :   does she have any fever, ?
User :   no shes fine, shes wide awake playing, what would that mean if shes got low platelet count?
Doctor :   no, this does not mean low counts
Doctor :   if she is playful, its is ok
Doctor :   it might be that she injured herself while playing as well
User :   ok thats good, so it would most likly be a hormones?
Doctor :   hormones , less likely at her age
User :   should i get her tested just in case?
Doctor :   also breast feeding is less likely to pass on the hormone to her as wll
Doctor :   yes, it sbetter to get tested
User :   ok... yes i will do that, do you reckon there would be anything else wrong with her?
User :   ive just never seen that before how it just looked like she had her period
Doctor :   i dont think, there should be any major issues
Doctor :   were you on any meds during pregnancy
User :   um... during lbour i was on the gas and then i got the injection to get induced but that was it, my whole pregnancy i was fine but i just had low iron intake and at the end of my pregnancy my urin had sugar in it
Doctor :   are you on any pills as of now ?
User :   no i wasnt
Doctor :   ok, then there is nothing to worry about
User :   ohh thats ok,
User :   what about her birthmark as well?
Doctor :   just an examination of the baby, and blood tests , will be diagnostic
User :   ok yes i will do that
Doctor :   probably the vascular tissue in the vagina, must have injured
Doctor :   and this might be causing the bleed
Doctor :   apply some icepacks to that area
Doctor :   this will reduce the bleeds
User :   ok yes because she had nappie rash a week ago but the rash has gone now, and every time i clean her softly it starts to bleed
Doctor :   ok
User :   also
Doctor :   in that case, this could be due to skin damage resulting due to the rash,
Doctor :   and will soon become normal
User :   ohh ok thats good its nothing that bad,..
User :   no hospital visits for us tonight thank god
User :   also another thing my mum shes pregnant to her 6th child and she was due today
User :   shes 41 years old
Doctor :   ok
User :   and her body is very swallen
Doctor :   thats great and congrats to her
User :   is there anything that she can do to stop the swelling?
User :   thankyou
Doctor :   the swelling will soon come down within a week after delivery
Doctor :   this is due to water retention
Doctor :   and will soon get better
User :   ok, also she broke her leg 27 years ago and her leg when she broke it all the way back then has now been playing up this whole week since shes gone soo big and she can hardly walk
User :   after shes had the baby would her leg get back into its normal self? or would she have to see someone about that ?
Doctor :   this could be due to weakness
Doctor :   and giving her some ibuprofen will reduce the pain
Doctor :   yes it will
Doctor :   i hope your queries have been answered
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me here
Doctor :   bye for now
Doctor :   bye for now
