User :   Hi Doc, Wake up this morning feeling like something in my throat. I try to cough it out but couldn't. So I open my mouth at the mirror and discover that my epiglottis has stretched out in my throat about an inch long. I don know what it is or what to do.

User :   Yes it's the Uvula, I m sorry about that
Doctor :   ok, its a common presentation , hence i did not doubt on epiglottis

Doctor :   the inflammation of uvula is non specific
Doctor :   it can happen to all causes which cause throat infection

Doctor :   Bacteria being the most common cause
Doctor :   the inflammation could most of times lead into a abscess
Doctor :   Smoking can also be a cause
User :   Ok, so what I need to do?
User :   I do not smoke
User :   So what do I need to do?
Doctor :   yes, Gargling with warm salt water or CHLORHEXIDINE solution thrice daily
Doctor :   after food ,
Doctor :   and take tab ACTIFED once in night after food for 3 days
User :   Can I eat any kind food?
Doctor :   no , avoid hot and spicy foods
Doctor :   take warm foods only
User :   Any medication?
Doctor :   Take what i suggested the CHLORHEXIDINE and Tab ACTIFED
Doctor :   Did you follow my advice , i have mentioned the dosage and course above
User :   If continue, what should I do?
Doctor :   and if it do not come down even after three days of above medication you may need antibiotics
Doctor :   You have to consult an ENT specialist for the same
Doctor :   he will examine you and prescribe specific antibiotics
User :   Can you send me prescription?
Doctor :   The medicines i have suggested do not need prescription they are OTC
Doctor :   And antibiotics need a detailed physical examination and a written prescription
User :   What is Tab ACTIFED?
Doctor :   its a antihistaminic it will reduce the local irritation
