Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   How can i help you ?
Doctor :   Are u there ?
User :   hi I had unprotected sex 4 years ago I just had an HIV test 2 days ago waiting for result but what I wanted to know is I had a full blood count 2 years ago and it came normal all they said that I need folic acid so if I had HIV would my blood count come back abnormal and what are the chance of me having HIV if my blood count came back normal
Doctor :   the chances that you have HIV depend on many things
Doctor :   1. presence of any symptoms like fever, diarhea, loss of weight etc
Doctor :   2. any recurrent infections in the past 4 years
User :   Like what wouldn't it show abnormal in blood count
Doctor :   usually within 4 yrs , HIV would defintiely present in the form of decreased WBC count,
User :   what kind of infection
Doctor :   and reduced lymphocyte count specifically
User :   Is that the White blood cell or red
Doctor :   respiratory and diarheal infections
Doctor :   its white blood cells
User :   No I haven't
User :   No diarheal infection
Doctor :   But in case, you never had any issues like infections , and your blood tests have been normal, then the chances of HIV infextion is 0%
User :   the full blood count came back normal I only needed folic acid
Doctor :   I hope u have understood my advice
Doctor :   the folic acid could be due to other reasons
Doctor :   or it could be just due to a precaution
User :   Ok so it's a slim chance
Doctor :   no , there is no chance
User :   Are you sure doctor cause I'm really scared
Doctor :   Yes i am sure
Doctor :   there is no need to be anxious after 4 yrs
Doctor :   By this time in case you were infected, you have have advanced into stage with conditions like TB
Doctor :   AND without any treatment, you might have expired
User :   Thank you so much for you help I need to know cause there is no one here to talk to
Doctor :   I understand the anxiety
User :   Thank you
Doctor :   you need support when facing a life changing situation
Doctor :   but ur test will most probably be negative
User :   I'm just waiting for my HIV test result and I'm so scared
Doctor :   may i know why the test is being done in the first place ?
User :   cause I had unprotected sex 4 years ago and I don't know if his clean
