User :   Hey Doctor, I have been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2001, and never had any relief with any of the medications I have taken for it.
User :   Asacol, Benthyl, Colazol, all 5-asa meds, including steroids, Prednisone, etc...
Doctor :   ok
User :   No sign of relief... until a month ago. I took Cipro and Flagly, 500mg each, on the 3rd day all my ulcerative colitis symptoms went away.
Doctor :   when was your recent follow up?
Doctor :   ok
User :   No appointment is set as of now...
User :   I took the 10 day of anti-biotics for something totally different
User :   but all my syptoms of colitis went away, after i finished the 10 day course, the symptoms came back
Doctor :   continue with the medications and diet as advised, if the symptoms come back, the consider opting for surgical option
Doctor :   to get permanent relief
Doctor :   the antibiotic that you took, acted upon the ulcerative colitis too, giving you releif
Doctor :   you can discuss this with your treating doctor and get the changes made in your medications
