User :   weak stream
Doctor :   ok

User :   Jan 2008 I had my first procedure
User :   I have had the problem on and off for 3 years
Doctor :   what is your age
User :   3 times resulting in going to the ER for not being able to urinate
User :   24
Doctor :   are you unable to pass urine now?

User :   yes
Doctor :   are you back
User :   I am back
Doctor :   kindly do not move from this page
User :   ok
Doctor :   Thanks
Doctor :   kindly proceed
User :   does this sound like a Stricture coming back?
User :   and can bowel movements cause a stricture to worsen
Doctor :   yes, sometimes strictures will recurr
Doctor :   can you please let me know what was the procedure done
User :   dialation
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   does the both surgeries included dilatation
User :   yes
Doctor :   During dilatation is done by inserting a thin instrument to stretch urethra
Doctor :   if the dilatation fails you may require surgery in which a urethral stent may be inserted through urethro copy
User :   like a tube?

Doctor :   yes
User :   how would that work with ejaculation? He said the stricture was close to my prostate
Doctor :   after howmany days of surgery you removed the tube
Doctor :   if the prostate is enlarged it can press over the urethra causing it to be narrowed

User :   The first surgery I had the catheter in for about 2 weeks, the second he said I didn't require a catheter
Doctor :   ok
User :   he mentioned during the second procedure that whatever was causing the blockage had been moved out of the way

User :   probably from the ER Catheter I'm assuming
User :   the ER Nurse did mention Scar Tissue
Doctor :   some times the dilatation may be required for several times

Doctor :   the catheter insertion also increases chance of developing urethral stricture
User :   When I get the catheters put in the nurses usually have a hard time
Doctor :   yes, that is because your urethra is narrowed
User :   3 catheters total from the ER room, none could put it in first try
User :   Is there a permanent solution?
Doctor :   the permanent solutions are surgery in which a stent is put to the urethra though cystoscope
Doctor :   in other surgery the stricture is cut releasing scar tissue and then it replaced by tissue
User :   is there anything diet wise I could do?

Doctor :   the diet will not help because it is anatomical defect
Doctor :   you may need repeated dilatations to remove the scar tissue
Doctor :   have you undergone any investigations?
Doctor :   are you there
User :   Hello?

Doctor :   yes

Doctor :   kindly proceed
Doctor :   the treatment requires repeated dilatation
Doctor :   any other doubts you have?
User :   The Chat isn't updating for me, but I can see what you say through Chat History

User :   can Urinary Strictures cause any other type of problems? I know I've developed acid reflux over the past few years and increased Anxiety
Doctor :   the treatment for the urethral stricture is repeated dilatations
Doctor :   urethral strictures can cause bladdre infection or kidney infection
Doctor :   the other methods of treatment are inserting a stent through an instrument called cystoscope which is passed through urethral
Doctor :   the other type of surgery includes removal of the scar tissue and the part of urethral which is affected and replacing them with other tissues taken from the bladder
User :   Can anxiety cause the stricture to flare up?

Doctor :   no anxiety will not cause stricture to flare up
Doctor :   but sexually transmitted disease can cause urethral stricture'
Doctor :   and repeated infection also can cause this
User :   Can sexual activity in general cause problems?

Doctor :   sexual activity do not cause it, having sex with those having infection may lead to stricture
Doctor :   Practicing safer-sex behaviors may decrease the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases and subsequent urethral stricture.

User :   I mean, Can it cause the Stricture to return? I'm paranoid about doing too many things sexually because I think it will aggrivate my stricture. On my own and with others

Doctor :   no do not worry having sex will not cause stricture to reuturn
Doctor :   only thing you need to have safe sex so that you do not contract infections leading to stricture
Doctor :   the urethral stricture however have the tendency to recur
User :   This makes a lot of sense, the first time I went to the ER was following my first sexual relationship, and they said it was a infection, and prostitis
Doctor :   the stricture usually recurrs in 80% of individuas after dilatation, hence repeated dilatation may be required
Doctor :   yes, the main cause of stricture is the infection
Doctor :   which lead to the formation of scar tissue blocking the urethra
Doctor :   do you have any queries?
User :   No, but thank you for your time it was very informative!
