Doctor:Dr XXXXXXX here
User:have query regarding atest i did recently
User:im 29 yr female married for 2 years m trying to concieve for almost an year now with no success...recently my doc asked me to do HSG test..i got the report this reports stats that my uterus and fallopian tubes are normal...but tehre is diverticulum left lateral margin of cervical wanted to understand what is the meaning of this?? n is it causing an obstruction for concieving
Doctor:sure, please proceed
Doctor:diverticulum is like a closed tube, with the open end opening in the uterine cavity
Doctor:in your case, it seems that you have such a diverticulum, at the lower end of the uterus, near the cervix
User:so is it causing obstruction in concieving
Doctor:usually such issues , do not have any issue with conception
Doctor:unless, the sperms are not reaching the uterus and the fallopian tube, where conception occurs
Doctor:have you ever concieved normally, i mean, have u had a pregnancy test positive , ever ?
Doctor:or have u had any miscarriages ?
User:3 months back i did follicular study wherein came to know i ovulate on 20th day
Doctor:so, u have a cycle of 34 days , ?? as per the study ?
User:yes from past 5-6 months cycle duration is changed from 31-32 days to 34-36 days
User:but in XXXXXXX i got my periods on 43rd day
User:which is y doc asked me to undergo some test
Doctor:i understand
Doctor:but , prescence of such a diverticulum, may be the cause of sperms not reaching the fallopian tube
User:what is the treatment for this then??
User:is it required to remove surgically
Doctor:as the sperms may get stuck, in such a tube , which is theoretically possible
Doctor:instead of that, you can go for intrauterine deposition of concentrated semen, in the fallopian tube
Doctor:this is called as intrauterine insemination
Doctor:this is the same as natural intercourse, but the semen will be deposited into the fallopian tube, on the day of ovulation, as calculated by ovulation studies
Doctor:have u followed my comments ?
User:so u mean to say i cannot concieve naturally because of this
Doctor:No, thats not the conclusion
Doctor:but , since you have never concieved, the process of conception can be fastened by the above procedure
Doctor:if conception , occurs then, natural pregnancy and delivery can be continued thereafter
Doctor:it is possible that the diverticulum, is preventing, the sperms from reaching the destination
Doctor:have u followed my comments ?
User:yes doc
Doctor:Do u have any other questions or doubts ?
User:no thats it
Doctor:ok, thanks for consulting us here
Doctor:take care and have a good day
Doctor:bye for now
