Hi I just had some general question about candida albicans and a recent rash I had in between my thigh and my testicle
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Dr XXXX
User :   Hey I hope you're well
Doctor :   yes, thank you
Doctor :   please proceed with your query
User :   I am a grappling instructor and wear a cup 5 days a week in order not to hurt my balls, well I had a flat pink rash begin to form and I thought it was due to the cup rubbing. The rash didnt go away for 2 and a half weeks so i called a nurse. She informed me that it was probably candidiasis and that i should get some Lotrimin. I have been using the Lotrimin and it has been slowly helping, its been a week now, and the rash is almost gone but there is still some itching. I went out last night for some drinks and woke up this morning with more pain than usual in that area. My question is related to that, it seems like certain things are directly affecting the rash and I was wondering if it's coincidence or if these things are often directly related.
Doctor :   i consider the rash is on the skin and not on the mucous membrane , Am i right ?
User :   where is the mucous membrane
User :   mucuos membrane?
Doctor :   the glans penis, inner side of the foreskin
Doctor :   fleshy skin ( mucous membrane )
User :   no its on the skin, on the thigh where the testicle rests and a little on the testicle, but the mostly the crease where the thigh meets the pelvis
Doctor :   yes, i get it , then it could not be candidiasis , as it affects only mucous membranes
User :   so, it would have to be on my penis ?
Doctor :   it could be ,Intertrigo or pitiryosporum versiucolor ( a type of skin fungal infection )
User :   well the lotrimin is helping should i keep using it
Doctor :   yes, the fleshy red parts are ones which get infected by candidiasis not the skin
Doctor :   lotrimin is fine butbetter would be ZOLE F ( Micanazole ) oint
User :   is the OTC?
Doctor :   as Micanazole penetrates the skin well than lotrimin ,
Doctor :   yes, it is an OTC
Doctor :   lotrimin gets absorbed by the mucous membranes well
User :   o ok, so if its not on the head of my penis or in my anus is cant be candida albicans?
Doctor :   yes ,most likely not candidiasis
Doctor :   and also take a tab of Benadryl if the itching is more
Doctor :   avoid the pelvic guard for some days
User :   therefore the alcohol plays no role in this case
Doctor :   no,
User :   well the intense pain went away, but how long should i expect to treat the itch and fungus
Doctor :   keeping it clean , dry and with the ointment it may not stay more than 3 to 4 days
User :   with the lotrimin it has been 7 days and it looks gone, but it still itches
Doctor :   Well that will be there til a new skin is formed there and it may take a week as well
User :   and can i put gold bond medicated powder with talc in it over the ointment for less friction
Doctor :   yes,
